This art museum is world class and should not be missed. The countries greatest of photographs. An excellent sculpture garden. A very nice way to spend a day. The museum is free except for special exhibits.

Always a wonderful experience. Spend half a day viewing the collections and dining in the courtyard.

Easy to do in a morning or afternoon. Gets the popular touring exhibits, but has its own impressive collections for free.

Set aside several hours to take in the museum. There are so many different themed areas to see. Everything from old Chinese and Roman time. Native American. Modern art. It was an amazing experience.

Opened in the 1930's, the Nelson-Atkins has a strong art collection and a welcoming atmosphere. Also several festivals , like Chinese New Years, Day of the Day and South Asian Indian celebration create fun experiences for the community.

The Nelson Atkins Art Museum is a treasure in the Midwest. You can spend hours looking at art from around the globe. Young and old, there is art for all ages to enjoy. A great way to spend the day. A nice gift shop also.

What a great museum! We only made it through 1 building in about 2 hours. I have 3 teenagers who are all interested in art. Great art and history! Families with smaller children may get tired, lots of stairs and walking but elevators too. Cafe in the middle to rest and relax.

My fiance and I were walking around the Plaza and decided to stop in for a peek. 3 hours later we made our exit. There is something there for everyone! We had a great time, and as a couple, it was something different to do.

My family recently visited the Nelson. These were the highlights: 1. Janet Cardiff's sound sculpture: Forty-Part Motet. It was worth the exhibition fee. 2. Nick Cave's Property sculpture (If you enjoy this, you can see more of his work right now at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, which is also in the Kansas City area.) 3. The Surveillance photo... More

I've been to the Smithsonian, the Louvre, the Uffizi in Florence, Italy. Nelson Atkins takes a back-seat to none. The exhibitions they host, the stunning venue, and the ways they display are fabulous.
