So this is mining

Great introduction to the mining history of Joplin. Some interesting equipment to see. The attached Museum is very good too. I think what is on exhibit changes.

If you are in the Joplin area you MUST plan on stopping at the Joplin Museum Complex. The large collection of mining equipment arranged outside the museum is only the beginning. Inside you will see numerous large chucks of raw ore broken open to show the unbelievable beauty of the imbedded crystals - perfect geometric shapes just sticking out of... More

there is a great mineral museum in the park that shows off many of the minerals collected during the early 1900`s from many mines in the Tri State area, great displays of minerals and history both, it even looks like a mine as you enter it inside the museum building.

our museum is based on towns' history of mining various ore. A few areas of museum shows life in home and attractions in late 1800's and early 1900's. Interesting? - depends on your taste.

I am glad that we took the time to go to this small museum. I'm also glad that I knew about the cats ahead of time so I could take an allergy pill ahead of time! The museums are really divided up in to two different sides. One side has all kinds of rocks and minerals that have been found... More

We stopped here because I wanted to see the door shot up when Bonnie and Clyde were stopped, but there was so much more to the museum than that. (Some exhibits we didn't understand - cookie cutter area? or the circus room?) For $5, we spent 1-2 hours exploring the rocks/minerals side of the museum and the local history portion.... More
