We dropped in here because we had some time to kill and thought it would be interesting. It was very interesting, it only takes about 40 minutes to go through but it will really open your eyes to life of an average convict in Tasmania....More

It was fascinating to see the tiny cells and the old cuffs and artefacts of years gone by. The gaol grounds are interesting to walk around. A lot of historical information. It takes about 30 minutes to go through.

We thought this might be difficult with our three young children however there is an 'I Spy' game that kept them intrigued. We didn't have to rush around and enjoyed playing the game with them. Family friendly.

The Caretakers of this Gaol are to be commended on the restoration and maintenance of this piece of Australian history. A person hears much of the way Convicts were treated but this building tends to bring it to life. An indictment on the gaolers of...More

We are locals that take all our visitors to this place. Totally intact - small but a lot to see. So close to Hobart for those who cannot get to Port Arthur. Gives you a real sense of what prisoners went thru.

The entry was $9 each. We are seniors but don't recall if they offered a discount for seniors. Some places don't. I think the Heritage pass is only for historic houses.
