The Lazy L Safari Park is fantastic. It's an unknown gem that's a great stop on the way to or from St. Louis if you live South of St. L. Lots of friendly "wild" animals feeding and petting opportunities. You can go inside the pen and hold the baby goats. Very interactive but small park. You can probably do everything in about an hour or more. More like an interactive petting zoo than a safari. You walk around a farm/barn area and visit the animals in their enclosures. There is only one port a potty, so use the restroom before you arrive. Also***pack antibacterial hand wipes. The hand wash station utilized following the feeding options is a water pump, so not much water pressure. $7 per person. Great "off the beaten path/We bought a Zoo" type stop.

I wonder if the person that had the negative things to say, actually went to this same park. My 10 yr old grandson from St Louis was here several weeks ago and we came out to the Lazy L: Safari. We found it to be very clean, and all the animals looked in very good health. My grandson and his family visit Grants Farm, and the St Louis Zoo often and he has been to other zoos, parks and to Disney Safari. He spent longer visiting Lazy L than I thought he would. Said he likes it better than Grants Farm because there you can only feed the goats and here you can feed a lot more animals. Please don't be put off by these comments, because it is not at all like they stated.

This is a cute place for the kids to learn about animals. The peacocks roam free, the deer eat from your hand and the zebras stand tall on the hillside. I thought it was a little expensive at $7 a person (we had 5 people) so my wife just stayed in the car while the kids ran free. You'll have to pay $1 a bag more to feed the animals or buy a $1 bird food stick so keep that in mind before you head out. Great hands on activity.

This place has had a name change to Cape Safari Park, but it needed to change more than the name. This is a very overpriced, small, dirty place. It is in the backyard of the owner and it is definitely not a park. It was 50.00 for 4 people and some feed. The only thing here is a bunch of goats and deer that are overcrowded and fight for the food. There is a kangaroo who I feel really sorry for. The zebras looked so sad, no room to roam. The smell is horrendous, they seriously need to clean up the place. The staff is not friendly at all, we asked a question and one woman completly ignored us, and she looked straight at us and we asked the same question 3 times. This is about a 20 minute excursion, there is nothing here to take up more time than that. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

This place was a horrendous, dirty, unorganized mess. Worst of all, the animals were sick and did not appear to be well cared for AT ALL. Their cages were filthy, tiny and falling apart. The male kangaroo was injured with a huge, bloody, open sore on his leg and could barely drag himself around his pen. The chickens had huge bald patches where their feathers were missing. There were about a million goats running around and most of them were pregnant. One of the baby goats got out of the pen somehow, and one of the "workers", an older woman dressed in regular clothing literally threw it back over the fence in front of everyone. There was no fresh water in the cages - we watched for at least 20 minutes as the turtles crawled around from empty bowl to empty bowl, looking for water. They have a huge python in an enclosure so small it barely has room to move. Everything appeared to be rigged, thrown together and falling apart. The list goes on and on. Overall it was disgusting, depressing and I honestly think for the sake of the animals in this awful place, someone needs to intervene.

To say I was shocked at this scathing review of our zoo would be an understatement. I, and my staff, have been very upset after reading this review. As you can tell from the previous 15 reviews, this review is not consistent with what our other customers have experienced during their visits. We are licensed and regulated by the USDA and are regularly inspected with no problems. We are devoted to our animals and their care 24/7 and have never had someone speak critically of our zoo like this. Most of our visitors come tell us how “clean” we keep the zoo and how “nice” the animals look. I have private messaged this reviewer who visited our zoo on Saturday, August 10th to try and find out exactly how she came to these conclusions. I would also like to point out that this reviewer did NOT bring her accusations to my or any of my staff’s attention during her visit. Perhaps if she would have done this we could have answered her questions and concerns at that time. I realize everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I must take exception with items that are NOT factual. 1) Our kangaroos (male or female) are NOT injured in ANY way. 2) The land tortoises (we don’t have any turtles at our zoo) had already eaten their food for the day by the time she arrived (after 1:30 pm). They often spill their water, but just for the record – land tortoises get their water from the grass or their food source (lettuce). ALL water bowls, tanks, and tubs are refilled with fresh water both morning and evening at our zoo. 3) A few younger goats like to sneak out of their pen from time to time to visit with our visitors. There are NOT a million goats running around and they are not pregnant as 99% have already given birth this year. 4) The “older” woman mentioned has worked for my family and been a family friend for over 40 years. She is the LAST person in the world that would ever endanger an animal. She did pick up a young goat and “set” him over the fence (twice actually that day) because he was interrupting the birthday party at the picnic shelter. 5) The large python is in an enclosure that is larger than a normal reptile display. When a python eats it likes to lie around and does not move a lot – and our python is very healthy. As a matter of fact, ALL of our animals are healthy and NOT sick as this reviewer has claimed. The only accusation that was correct is that the chickens DO have bald patches where their feathers are missing and here is why: ALL chickens that are egg layers (and ours are good layers) will have feathers missing. This is from the rooster breeding them. These feathers will grow back. This is not anything that we are doing wrong – this is nature. I have given this reviewer my personal cell phone number and asked her to call in order to respond to this review. I am hoping she calls me and we can discuss this so we can ease her concerns and put these issues to rest. Thank You – Vicki Lantz, Owner, Lazy L Safari Park

Overcrowding, full sun, no clean cold water for the animals. The animals look sickly. Two alligators were in a dog pen with a small puddle of water. The place looks scary and I felt dirty being there. Google this place more as you will find the business name associated with animal abuse and legal action.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I wish you would have voiced your concerns in person during your visit. Our staff would have been glad to answer any questions you had concerning the care of our animals. It is our policy to not address specific concerns on social media. We feel this is best discussed in person as visitors opinions do not always reflect actual animal care. We would be happy to discuss in person at any time. Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your concerns by phone or a personal visit to the zoo.

We are glad you decided to stop and see us on your trip! The large Sulcata Tortoises are a favorite among the species of animals we have here at the zoo! Thanks for visiting!

This park was about 15 mins from the main part of the city and easy to find but you can't use the address in your GPS. It was $7 per person to get in, we bought $10 worth of food which was five bags of pellets and six bird sticks which was plenty. There were lots of animals to feed and pet and many more to see. The property was clean and accessible. The teens really enjoyed the parakeet feeding area where they land on you to feed. We spent at least an hour there and had a good time. There was a small gift shop and some vending.

Thank you for visiting our zoo. Yes, unfortunately sometimes GPS systems do not locate our correct location by our address. However, we do have the exact coordinates available on our website and brochure which seems to process to the correct location. Glad you had such a good time!

I visited in mid July and paid with credit card. After ringing up $35 plus tax I asked where I could purchase a drink as my little ones were already asking in this high heat. The girl told me soda machined only. I dont have cash only card I explain. There is a handwashing station by the goats.?!? REALLY....I nearly came unglued at this point. After walking in the barn I quickly spotted a fridge and grabbed an ice cold bottled water next to the ice cold beer. I gave the water to my youngest daughter who was red in the cheeks and attempted to enjoy the rest of my visit.

First, I want to thank you for bringing your family to once again visit our family owned zoo on Sunday, July 19th. Yes, the weather was extremely hot and humid that day and we did discuss water availability at the zoo. However, let me clarify a few things that you noted in your recent review.
The admission booth attendant did not imply (or mean to imply) that you should drink out of the hand washing station. The mention of the hand washing station was her response to your question - "Do you have ANY water on the premises (place)?" She stated we have water for the animals, a sink, and the hand washing station. When you brought up the water issue with my husband, we both (as owners of the zoo) discussed this issue with you and your wife. I told you that we have water available in the vending machines and that I would be happy to give you cash back on your credit card so that you could purchase water for your children since you didn't have any cash at that time. I have done this for other visitors in the past as a courtesy. I also explained that it is not our policy to give out water (by sink or bottles) because of liability issues. However, you did not mention to me or my husband that you had actually already "helped" yourself to water in a private refrigerator.
You also kept stating that you were a top Trip Advisor reviewer and that you were thinking of writing a "bad" review because you could not get water during your visit. I again offered (at least 3 times) to give you cash back on your credit card to purchase water from the vending machines and you once again declined. I am not going to change our policy concerning liability issues in order to receive a "good" rather than a "bad" review.
You mentioned that there are vending machines available that take credit cards. This is something I can definitely look into for the future. Your wife also mentioned the possibility of "drinking fountains". However, as I explained to her during your visit, this is again a liability issue. Offering cash back on credit cards is something I have done in the past and will continue to do as a courtesy to our customers that wish to purchase drinks or snacks during their visit to the zoo. We also allow visitors to bring in their own food and drinks.
I do hope you and your family enjoyed your visit. Thank you for visiting our zoo and we do appreciate your business.

Admission is $7.00 per person (ages 2 to adult) plus sales tax. Under 2 is free. Feed to feed the animals is $1.00 per bag and feedsticks for the Parakeet Jungle Exhibit are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Hope to see you soon!
