If you look at it on a map, Lake Taneycomo looks like a river. I kept having to correct myself about it. This narrow lake winds around through the Branson area all the way to Table Rock Dam. You can see it best at Branson Landing area.

Lake Taneycomo is a man made lake on the White River and is easily accessible from Branson MO at Branson Landing. The lake was very calm on my visit and just lovely. I got a great picture of a heron flying over the water. I also saw a variety of people in boats, kayak and other assorted water craft. They have water based tours you can sign up for or equipment you can rent at a variety of places at the Landing.

Word to the wise- don’t get caught in saving on Branson scam through Branson Travel Group. My vacation time is worth more to me than that. Told to get there at 8, started at 9. Lie! Started at 9:30. We Will NEVER get caught in one of those promotions again. I loved Branson- enjoyed Silver Dollar City. Dolly’s Stampede is the exact same show we saw 10 years ago in Pigeon Forge which was disappointing. 10 years later in a different city should have been something different. I loved shopping there and found some good sales. Downtown had the best food at a mom and pop and I absolutely loved the 5 and 10 shop downtown.

Beautiful lake with gorgeous banks. Lots to do on the shores for all ages. We did the jet boat ride and it was hands down our favorite thing we did. They take you out and do all kinds of spins and tricks as well as give you history about the lake as you go.

We rented a pontoon boat from Lilley’s Landing on a Sunday morning. It was an amazing and relaxing time! We started out with just a 2-hour rental, but moved it to 4 hours as we were having such a great time! Saw so many blue heron on the lake! Did not have much luck catching fish. Scenery was beautiful and we loved cruising on the lake!!

One of the things I loved about most about this lake is that you can enjoy it completely for free if you'd like. It was really nice to get away from the expensive attractions on Branson's main strip and enjoy some scenery. The lake is beautiful and has a lot of places to visit along the shoreline!

Fished with Captain Brett out of Lilly's Landing on 4 hour trip. He was great with knowing the hot spots. Caught 24 trout on the trip. If you want to fish contact Lilly's and ask for Brett. Good Luck

Love this area of the country. This is a remote area of the US but such a beautiful area. Close to Branson and lots of shows to see when Covid is not closing things down. Seemed like most places did a great job of keeping social distancing and sanitizing as needed.

We put in at the Cooper Creek boat launch/fishing pier, on the upper end of the lake. There are 2 small waterfalls just north and across from the launch, which you can only see from the lake. There are several blue herons along the shorline, and you'll see an occasional kingfisher. It was nice and quiet as there were several people fishing off boats, as well as from shore side fishing piers. On Labor Day Sunday, we attempted to kayak Table Lake, but it was hugely busy with motor boats, jet skis, ducks (the amphibious vehicles -- not the feathered varieties). It was the only place the visitors center pointed out as a place to put in. Cooper Creek was so much more pleasant.

Hi Justamom56!
Thanks so much for posting a review on Lake Taneycomo! We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your time on our cold water lake with you kayaks. And fun the great blue herons showed up for you! If you ever do any fishing while you kayak, Taneycomo is great for trout fishing too!
Thanks again for taking time to review Lake Taneycomo!

There are 2 areas with accessible public fishing docks, although you will need a map and an explanation to find them. The lake looks like a river and is cold, about 45-55 degrees. We were told that it draws water from the bottom of the 250 ft Table Rock Dam. It is supposed to have great trout fishing. We fished for 2 days and saw 1 small trout caught. We heard a man say he caught one, too. We saw a beautiful bald eagle and a multitude of Canada geese. Well, you know what they say about your worst day fishing...

Yes there is fly fishing the area is located from where Fall Creek enters Lake Taneycomo to the Dam at Table Rock Lake. I am not a fly fisherman but I see people out in the water fly fishing. If you travel down to the old boat dock you'll see the sign posted there about bait fishing and fly fishing Good Luck I had caught some rainbows there Saturday morning on the bait side of fall creek.

Are you able to send me a brouchure, or respond to these questions by Thursday Aug 6th, as we will be leaving to come stay down there for a while and I have a few questions, IE: how much does the dinner cruise cost and what time and from where does it leave? Is there unguided fishing around the same time of the dinner cruise? Also, is there a guided fishing tour that is close by the cruise area that leaves and returns about the same time as the dinner cruise? One last question that I can think of, do you offer a military discount? 3 of the 5 of us are disabled Veterans.

We don't have any brochures to send out. I believe there are dinner cruises that leave the Landing - Main Street Cruises. There is a marina that either rents boats or can get you a fishing guides - it's Scotty's Trout Dock. TA's rules don't allow me to give you url's or contact info. Have a good time!!
