This family-owned attraction features the famous outdoor theatre where guests are transported back to the late 1800's and into the lives of the pioneers who settled this rugged area of Southwest Missouri. Based on Harold Bell Wright's bestselling book the show is now in it's 56th season in Branson. The Shepherd of the Hills is a time tested favorite for all ages. During the day there are guided jeep-drawn tours of the historic homestead, Inspiration Tower, the Vigilante Extreme ZipRider (which launches from the TOP of Inspiration Tower!) And Round-Up on the Trail Chuckwagon Dinner Show. It's a whole day of family fun at historic proportions!

In November and December Old Matt's Historic Homestead is transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland. The Trail of Lights is an animated, musical drive-thru of lights, sound and motion and is open 7 nights a week. There are millions of twinkling lights and animated displays that celebrate everything from the whimsical to beautiful displays celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. There's also Christmas on the Trail Chuckwagon Dinner Show in the Pavilion Theatre. Favorite holiday carols and a delicious cowboy dinner in a rustic, cozy setting...And your ticket includes a journey through The Trail of Lights after the show. Christmas on the homestead has become a favorite holiday tradition for families. Come enjoy the most wonderful time of the year with us!

I believe this to be an acquired taste. I loved theater when I was younger, but as I got older; it lost its thrill to a degree. If you’re in the area and just looking to take in some of the typical tourist attractions then this would be a popular one to add to your list. For me however, it... More

This is an outdated and overpriced experience which everyone in the family including my children thought was boring and a complete waste of time.Everything needs updated and I would advise you to save your money and time.

We love holiday lights and have gone to see countless displays. This one is really sad. I would suggest you carefully look at the pictures and understand the entire thing is 80-85% animatronics that are tired and ugly. It may appeal to you but we thought is was really bad. The tower was a dud as well and needs to... More

This was quite possibly the lowest low point of any Christmas experience that any of our party had ever been exposed to. We were mislead by reviews online that spoke of "mystical and exotic Christmas lights of wonder" or numerous excerpts of supposed authentic reviews where people called it "the most amazing display we have ever seen". .....I can't understand... Decided to take the family after hearing an advertisement on the radio $25 for a carload Trail of Lights and Tower. I called and verified it with Shepherd of the hills reservation line before going. Got up to ticket booth 12/20 and lady said it would $35. I told her I had heard and ad on the radio that was... More

Our first experience with the Shepherd Of The Hills Trail Of Lights display was in 2013. Our kids, ages 5 and 3 at the time, LOVED it, and so did we! While preparing for our vacation this time around though, I was hesitant based on some of the negative reviews here. I wondered if my kids, ages 8 and 6... More

We boarded a bus at our nearby resort and for $9 per person were taken on the 2.5 mile drive through tour of the 66+ acres of the SOH grounds plus at the end were able to take in the wonderful observation tower at night. I agree with several other reviewers that their light display is aged. Their road has... More

very disappointing light tour!!!!! old out of date dirty displays. animation often not working, only a couple of cute displays for this endless long drive. at times nothing to really see. very over rated. save your money and just drive around Branson or any other town. do not know how anyone can really be impressed with the out dated event.

The trail of lights is the best I've ever seen! Displays are so good and all the lights are great too. This will surely put you in the Christmas spirit!
