There are several deserted islands off the Ms. Coast . The islands are small with a few trees . Usually the south side of islands have the pretty green water and small waves , the north side has dark water that is flat. There are no facilities on islands so bring everything you need. Most locals go to Sand or Horn islands to play in the sand/ water, camp out , fish etc.. Please be aware that these are protected islands do not litter , clean up any mess you make etc.. There is not ferry to these islands you must own a boat or better yet be friends with someone who owns one. You will likely have dolphins around your boat when you go to islands and be aware of bull sharks in the water. Horn island has an alligator that lives in the ' lake' on the island . It is hot during the day but can get very windy/ cool at night. You can often be the only person on these islands if you go during the week.

You'll have to have a boat to get here but it's worth the trip. Beautiful white sand beaches with rolling surf on the south side and (usually) gently lapping waves on the north side. Lots of good fishing particularly near the passes at either end of the island. Generally not overly crowded and very relaxing to simply explore in search of beach treasures

Petit Bois is one of our barrier islands in the Gulf of Mexico. Great for cooking out, camping, fishing, swimming or just hanging out.

This island is part of the protected Gulf Island National Seashore chain of islands about 15 miles South of the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the Gulf of Mexico. The only way you can get there is by private boat, I don’t even know if there are charters. Being protected, it’s pristine and fairly private. Want to feel like you're on your own personal island paradise? Find a ride to Petit Bois! The North side of the water tends to be a little brackish as the water is trapped between the island & the mainland. The South side is glorious and wide open to the Gulf of Mexico. Dolphins tend to group and play on the East end.

We take the short boat ride to Petit Bois Island to meet and hang out with friends. The water was absolutely gorgeous the day we went out. There were dolphins that were playing in the water right out from the beach. A true place of beauty.

This barrier island is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and is off the coast of Pascagoula, MS. This island is a must see for nature enthusiasts and folks that just want to get-away. The beaches are beautiful! Check it out if you can. Of course you will need a boat to get there.
