WAMA was much more interesting than I anticipated. I have always loved his block prints of coastal life, but what really struck me were his watercolors. Absolutely breathtaking. Also interesting was the Little Room. It really showed Walter Anderson's descent into schizophrenia. The community center...More

A small museum, really not worth the price of admission. A local watercolorist had work on display which was more interesting than Anderson, which was very repetitive. I asked about using the wi-fi, and the little old lady at the counter didn't know it..so they...More

This is a wonderful small museum, dedicated to an artist who isn't very well known but whose life and work are both well worth learning about. Don't miss two special features: (1) the community center, which is next-door to the museum and connected with it....More

Enjoyed the film first. Explains his art, so be sure to watch. Drove to the Shop. Very little inventory. Anderson had very interesting life at Ocean Springs.

We visited the Shearwater Pottery first, and then the museum. I recommend the Museum first. The Pottery site and store will be much more meaningful. I was pleasantly surprised - who would have guessed that a family's story of the pottery business could be so...More

The art was amazing, but the gallery itself was small. The old woman behind the register on August 2 was rude and unwelcoming. Even though it wasn't even 4 yet, she quickly informed us that the museum closed at 5. We didn't want to impose,...More

We really enjoyed this museum. The art was awesome. The facts throughout the museum highlighting Walter Anderson’s life brought to light some of his struggles, family life, and resounding perseverance- like riding his bike to Florida or Texas, or walking home over 1000 miles at...More

If you don’t love art, I have no idea why you are reading this review or thinking of going. But, let me say, I have been twice and enjoyed it immensely. If I had one complaint, it’s that the Anderson family, all of which seem...More

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this museum. Glad I made the drive from Gulfport. I wish there were more prints for sale. Most of them are not licensed to be sold.
