I have watched this area languish for decades.

There are jewels on Farish street but the execution of the district's plan has been non existent. It reminds me of the neighborhoods up in the New England states. It takes $100.00... read more

I really enjoyed this area. I stopped in some shops and learned even more about the area. The man in the shoe repair shop is a fountain of information, his shop has been there since the 1930s.

There is so much of historical Jackson tied up in this place, but they continue to let it fall apart, and you do not want to be anywhere near here around sunset for fear of your lie.

This is an area that was a booming commerce area for the African American population, it fell into rack and ruin and was to be redeveloped into an entertainment area but those plans fell apart under financial abuse of public and private funds. The area now is mostly vacant buildings, false storefronts not finished and a couple of night clubs.... More

My colleague and I walked from the Old State Capital Museum to the current State Capital then on to this area on a circuitous route back to the King Edward Hilton Garden Inn. The Farish Street Historical District was labelled as such on street signs. But, there must be some brochure that we did not have. There were a couple... More

I am not sure why this is listed as places to see. It is in a dangerous part of town and although there is a revival of the downtown buildings, there is nothing to see on this street. I work in the area and even in working hours I am very careful of where I walk and my surrounding. I... More

So despite seeing all the boarded and abandoned buildings..I still wanted to experience it..I wanted to experience Peaches the restaurant, but it was always closed..and the uncertainty got to be too much..so there really is not to much to do here..as everything is shut tighter than a drum...I did experience some unusual characters but they only asked me for water... The city has been working on this area for over 20 years and it has never gotten a good group of businesses. Call it unfinished.
