The Old Capitol building served the state from 1832-1903 and was later converted into a State Historical Museum. Visitors can tour the grand dam of Mississippi politics, plus view dioramas and exhibits that trace the city's history. The museum also includes a large collection of Jefferson Davis memorabilia.

Real interesting building with well maintained Senate and house rooms. Portraits of famous people involved in MS politics. Well worth seeing, this was one of my favorite sights in Jackson. Plan to spend about 1 hr.

Beautiful building, nice architecture. Really educational, learned about the history of Jackson as well as Mississippi. Pick up the brochure in the front to keep the kids entertained with a scavenger hunt of sorts. Definitely a must when visiting.

I saw young school age children there. There is considerable reading of posters but also some very good audio describing some of the exhibits.
