The Old Mississippi State Capitol served as the Mississippi statehouse from 1839 until 1903. It is Jackson’s oldest building and has been wonderfully restored and filled with appealing exhibits. Definitely worth the visit.

If you're doing sightseeing in Jackson of historical sights, add this to the list. The Old Capitol dates before the civil war and it's really cool to visit. I think there is a small admission fee, but can't remember. The building itself is cool and...More

In Jackson there are few real sights, but the Old Capitol ranks among the best. A trip into the Old Senate Chamber made me feel like Sen. Foghorn Leghorn gettin' feady to make a speech.

This place is beautifully restored; majestic and historic. If you're interested in MS at all, the combination of exhibits and other displays tell the story of the state.

You can certainly understand why Mississippi needed a new capitol building after visiting here, very small but beautiful inside. They have made great effort to make the experience informative and educational. Really enjoyed it.

The outside of this building does nothing for the beauty held within. This historic site will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete fully.

I saw young school age children there. There is considerable reading of posters but also some very good audio describing some of the exhibits.
