Patterned after the National Capitol, this has been the Capitol building for the state of Mississippi since 1903. Today it is major tourist attraction as well as the focus of Mississippi state government activities.

Built in 1901-1903, this Beaux Arts style capitol is a must see. The details are striking and the rotunda gorgeous. Be sure to check out the golden on top, facing south.

The State Capitol is so rich in history. The eagle at the top of the dome is so beautiful. There are guided tours and self paced tours, take your pick. It's fun and relaxing just to scroll the grounds. Great staff too.

The guided tour is free and very interesting; you visit all four floors and can see the court rooms and learn some anecdotes about the senators. The building is beautiful, definitely worth a stop to visit.

We went by on a Saturday afternoon so it was closed. The front had major construction being done. I took a photo of it anyway. This beautiful building is a must see.

Downtown, is pretty cool and friendly. I went to Secretary of State Office and this location is near by. Downtown, people seemed friendly and one person helped with directions to SOS office. Parking is amble, but their is some construction going on around the Capital.

2nd stop of the Announcement Tour. Kim and I took a tour of the State Capitol Building while waiting for the festivities to begin. 28 years ago I was administered the oath of the Missouri Bar in the Rotunda. Very nice to behold once again!

We found street parking across from the Capitol on Monday morning when the legislature was hurrying to finish its session. Depending on whether they are insertion, parking may be harder to find on the street.
