- Brittany M2 contributionsAmazing aquatic adventures!Best aquarium ever!! We absolutely adore the MS Aquarium, all of the staff, and animals. We purchased an annual pass, and have used it so frequently. We are always treated with kindness and welcome by every staff member. There’s always something new to see or do. We love the events they hold as well. With my 4 year old we usually spend 2-3 hours, eat at the delicious cafe, and explore the gift shop. The property is so clean & is stroller/wagon friendly, with a mother’s room, water bottle refill station, changing table, etc. 11/10 highly recommended this interactive aquatic adventure!!WOW! Thank you for this wonderful review. We are so glad to be a part of your family adventures. We appreciate your support & cannot wait to SEA you and your family again soon.Written 4 December 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 December 2023
- Kayla J1 contributionSo much funI’m not sure why so many negative reviews because we had a blast. We took our 6 year old daughter and she loved it. There was plenty to do and the food at the cafe was surprisingly good! Meeting the penguins and touching sting rays was the highlights of the day.So happy to hear you and your family had an amazing visit! Thank you so much for taking time to leave a review. - Stephanie P4 contributionsOk Aquarium, a bit spendyAnimals are well cared for. Aquarium was nice but would have to agree with most others, a bit underwhelming for the price. Expect to spend maybe an hour maybe a little more, IF you walk slowly while you read and look.Appreciate your feedback! As a non-profit aquarium, all of the ticket sales not only helps provide for our animals but also helps us with our three pillars of conservation, education, and community. We're a fairly new facility, opening up in fall of 2020, and have already grown a lot since then. We have lots of exciting things in the works, so we do hope you visit us again!Written 25 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 June 2024

I can't imagone what the nahsayers are looking for - we thought it was excellent value for money. The food was tasty and there was enough seating for us on a Friday.Cruiser, thank you for the 5-star review. - ab_and_blakes_momGlen Allen, Alabama45 contributionsImersful ExperienceMy niece and I are on a long road trip so decided to stop here as a slight break. After reading some reviews I didn’t have high hopes but still thought for about $30 per person it would be a nice to just look around. While I have traveled a lot and understand there are much larger aquariums I have never experienced one so imersful with interaction or such a wonderful staff. We didn’t feel overwhelmed with people, we just felt completely surrounded by the experience. The main aquarium part starts with a petting tank, then you go under, around, and thru the tank. At the end you have a tall room with bean bags to sit on and just take it all in. We went and did all the other areas of the aquarium and came back to this room and sat til they announced closing. Like I said earlier, you will not find a more kind and educational staff, no matter what area of the aquarium you are in. This was well worth the money, I encourage anyone to visit. It may not to be the largest but it will be the most personal and tranquil experience you ever have at an aquarium.Hi, thank you so much for your 5 star review! We are so happy to hear that you and your niece had such a wonderful experience with us, and we truly appreciate your feedback. We will be sure to share your kind words with our staff here at the Mississippi Aquarium, it will mean so much to them. We hope to see you again in the future if you are ever in the area again!Written 8 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 July 2024
- Bobby G22 contributions4th of July CelebrationFirst of all, the aquarium is really nice and I enjoy visiting when it’s not as crowded as it was for this event. I especially enjoy the dolphins and aviary. I am definitely disappointed with the after hours July 4th event. The aquarium was open and offered relief from the heat, there was cold beer for purchase, and a variety of food trucks. The event charged $15 per person for “exclusive access to the reserved front lawn for the best view of the fireworks”. Now check out my pic of at least 150 people sitting on the front lawn and waiting an hour at least for the fireworks. Imagine their frustration when the fireworks begin and couldn’t be viewed from this exclusive access viewing spot! I want a refund. A better viewing spot would have been on the east side of the building, perhaps in the parking garage with an ice chest.Bobby, we appreciate your support of Mississippi Aquarium and for taking the time to leave us a review. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment in the Fins, Fireworks and Frosty Beers event. We look forward to meeting so many new aquarium visitors at this event each year. Our $15 price was offered as a reduced-price admission to the aquarium, with the lawn viewing and the food trucks as an added bonus. Based on your picture, it looks like you scored a spot on the west lawn right next to the food truck zone, a new feature added! We were excited this year to be able to open up a larger viewing area including the whole south lawn for viewing the fireworks from the Gulfport Jetty as well since the construction in that service road area was finally complete. In the future, please feel free to connect with a member of the crew on best viewing location as they are always happy to assist our visitors in making the most of their visit!Written 10 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2024
- Diane SGulf Breeze, Florida283 contributionsA cool break from the heatWe visited the Mississippi Aquarium on a sweltering August day. Fortunately, three buildings with tanks and displays are air conditioned and offer a chilly, relaxing sanctuary from the heat. In one there’s a remarkable walk-through clear tunnel to view fish. In another, there’s a three-level tank where you can view from the top (there’s a touch tank there) then spiral down to the bottom, where visitors can relax and view the fish. The viewing tanks are well labeled with plenty of hidden treasures. Check out the giant California Eel. Outdoors, due to the heat, the river otters and beavers were hiding out in the shade of the palmetto, though they peeked out once or twice. We missed the dolphin outdoor training session, but the dolphins were still a spectacle as they entertained themselves (and a few of us spectators) as they swam and tossed a football and a volleyball. Since we were there over the lunch hour there weren’t any chats or feeds going on from 11:45 to 1:30, so check the schedule before arriving. I was fascinated, however, watching a scuba diver clean one of the indoor tank tubes as fish swirled around her. Driving from Florida, we had a little trouble finding the entrance and drove around a few times, eventually using the paid parking garage which leads to entrance. It can be a very expensive visit if you do the add-ons, which we didn’t do. There’s no student pricing for those over the age of 13. For $2 military discount, you need to show an ID. It seems to be a great place for young kids, however, as there were plenty of toddlers in strollers and preschoolers relaxing on the bean bag chairs watching the giant wall tank of fish swimming. We’ll go back when they open the Penguin Project because we love watching penguins too.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 August 2024
- Marsha R8 contributionsFun and interactiveMy family and I took a quick trip to MS coast just for a few days. We really enjoyed our trip to the aquarium! I loved that it was so interactive and people were so friendly and welcoming and willing to answer questions. We got there early and it was a great time to go because we got to see the dolphins and talk to their trainers and ask questions. We enjoyed being able to take our time and enjoy every thing there was to see and experience. We enjoyed the aviary and being so close to the beautiful birds. My son enjoyed the area where he could touch various sea creatures and reading about them as well. Great experience!!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2024
- Nodoubt46Baton Rouge, Louisiana56 contributionsOne of the best new aquariumsThis is a really fun aquarium with lots to do. The dolphins are a lot of fun to watch. We went when it was quite hot outside, but it was still very enjoyable. Inside there is a good amount of literature on the animals and the staff seemed very knowledgable about the marine life.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 September 2024

Literally walked through the entire thing 2.5 times in less than an hour. It is extremely expensive for what it offers. The gift shop is bigger than some of the enclosures they have for the animals. Our kids had fun but they also have fun playing in the backyard so that's not saying much. They have to lower the prices or add more to it if they plan to stay open. They charge as much as large, big city aquariums that you can spend a whole day exploring. Do yourself a favor and keep driving to New Orleans to visit the aquarium there.

We were advised that the Mississippi Aquarium was a waste of time and money ($30 each; 45 minute visit). Should have listened to my niece. Most of the exhibits are outside and boring. Never saw the otters. Felt sorry for the 2 dolphins in the tank. $5 to walk through the large indoor tank would be reasonable, but there is a lot of wasted space in that building that could be used for smaller aquariums or more educational materials.

This place is amazing and puts Gulfport on the map. There are plenty of things to see both inside and out and the place is beautiful. The prices are very fair and your experience can't be beat if you take the time to look at all the things in the exhibits and surrounding areas. My recommendation is to take your time, ask questions and immerse yourself in the modern, animal friendly exhibits. The time you take to put into your visit will be worth it many times over. For all the folks looking for dolphins and sharks, that's great but you are missing so much more if you don't take the time to enjoy the rest. I found this place to be a peaceful respite that I very much needed. I recommend it to anyone else seeking meaningful entertainment in these times of shortened attention spans.

We loved visiting the Mississippi Aquarium, it was a great stop for our family during our drive from New Orleans to Pensacola. Aquariums in general are more expensive than other activities, but I felt this was worth the money. My kids loved the walk through tunnel (with sharks and a giant sea turtle) and indoor stingray "petting" tanks as well as the dolphin tanks outside. My three year old son also loved stamping his "passport" with all of the different sea creatures. We've been to numerous aquariums in the southeast and this was larger than the one in New Orleans and significantly less crowded than the one in Atlanta. The TN aquarium in Chattanooga is still the best in the region, but the Mississippi aquarium was a great stop for us and I would recommend it to other families traveling along the gulf coast!

The size of the aquarium is not worth the money. Only three tanks inside and one of them is a touch tank. A few exhibits outside but they are poorly planned and visibility is not great. Three penguins are in a child’s playpen in a separate building. I would not recommend especially for the price less than ten tanks in total across the entire aquarium.

Price is outrageously expensive for such a small place with only 2 aquariums indoors with a touch pool. Expected more for the price. Best part was seeing the dolphin exhibit, which is located outside. Spent $109 to get a family of four inside and was in and out in about 30 minutes. Clean place and well kept, but they need to lower their prices or add more aquariums. You only get to walk around 1 large aquarium and that is pretty much it. Was so disappointed.

While it's certainly small, and not cheap, the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport is well worth a visit. Beautifully landscaped, the comfortably wide walking paths slope and undulate like the sea. On arriving, one is treated to a crocodillian exhibit, and from there a left turn takes you past the food venu and into the aviary. Why does the aquarium have an aviary? Who knows? Anyway, it features colorful exotic birds in a very intimate netted tent.
The four male dolpins put on a great show, with both above and underwater viewing available. A large outdoor pool contains a variety of fish, particularly alligator gar.
The inside has two large tanks, a four-story circular tube and a huge milllion gallon tank with a window wall that makes great viewing. On the top level there's a large touching pool with crabs, stingrays, anemone, shrimp, and the occasional starfish. Then, of course, there's the gift shop. Take a rest at one of the many tables or benches and enjoy the view of the Gulfport Port and stretch out your visit. The staff are knowledgable and friendly and frequently give demonstrations and talks.
Okay, that's all. No individual fish tanks like in a larger aquarium, such as New Orleans or Toronto or Boston. Still, it'll entertain and thrill you for an hour or so, and that's probably enough in Mississippi's heat.

It is a beautiful aquarium located right off the beach and near downtown. It is small but the quality is great, from the 3-story high inside tank to the dolphin exhibit. It doesn’t take long to go through it, and most likely f the exhibits are outside. Also tickets must be purchased electronically so credit/debit card required - no cash.

The Aquarium was a great experience. We asked several questions which were all answered with expert knowledge. The dolphin exhibit is not yet open but is coming soon. The vast numbers of costal fish, sharks, rays, etc was beautifully displayed. The cost for an adult is 32 with tax, but providing a facility like this is expensive. Well worth the visit

I literally thought this was going to be a great weekend day trip. You park in a parking garage that has no signage to tell you where to go every one enters the same way through the parking garage lobby entrance that has a restroom and a vending machine that’s it then you go out that door and literally look for the signs on the ground to tell you where to go next. But now back to the experience
But it was one building that had the same fish tank with a 360 view of the same tank and same aquatic life in it you started on the third floor and walked a spiral all the way back to the first floor. After you done made your way back outside you got a small animal exhibit that consists of
otters
Fish
Dolphins
And a bird exhibit. And a outdoor concession stand and if it’s raining then you want be able to enjoy it save your money and visit the ripleys aquarium of the smokies for a great experience for the money you spend here for three adults it was $100 for about a hour walk through for this Mississippi aquarium
After you finish all that yes you can repeat all that
