Ingalls Homestead, Walnut Grave MN

Nice place to visit for the historic value. Be aware that there isn't much left of the original dug out home other then a depression on the side hill. Still worth the stop.

We should have read articles better, we were disappointed that there is only a hole in the ground with a sign. It was however quite pleasant eating our picnic lunch out under the trees by the Plum River on the provided picnic tables! It is interesting with the prairie brought back like it was. Gordon's have soybean crop near so... More

I've been a fan of the Little House books (and show) since I was a kid. I'm currently reading On the Banks of Plum Creek with my five year old daughter and it was very exciting to see the area that was in the books including the big rock. The original sod dugout and frame house are gone, but an... More

Wonderful to see the site, the grasses and flowers. Beautiful creek you can dip your feet into. Dugout site, but no actual dugout.

Ok It's not much to see but it is gorgeous and very informative and true book or tv fans should go check it out. The house (not related to the Ingalls or the show) on the property is beautiful. Being able to tour the property is wonderful. No one is taking money but there is a place to put five... More

The house is ruins, which is written, but you actually wouldn't see it if there was no sign, unlike some other ruins. The landscape sure is pretty though. The creek is very peaceful.

If you are a fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder's books or the television series, "Little House on the Prairie, then this is definitely for you! Let yourself go and imagine how life used to be..... Be sure to see the two other attractions nearby!

My preteen daughter and I really enjoyed this place. The locals are enthusiastic about their place in literary history, and it is interesting to hear the stories. Highly recommend attending the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant that runs during weekend evenings in July.

I have been reading and rereading the LIW books since I was a kid and I was thrilled to be able to make the 2000km trip to Minnesota to see the place where Laura lived. I was not disappointed. The creek was like she described and the surrounding area was so peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed walking where she walked... More

It's not like the TV show...it's better. Seeing the real places was great for our family to enjoy together.
