We did the "tour" which is only about 20 min. long and gave some history before allowing you to tour the buildings at your own leisure. It was cool to see the lighthouse, the keepers house and a few other spots and there are steps down to the lake shore (a lot of them!) and it's fun to put your... More

I would recommend this state park for everyone. Watch the movie and then take the tour. You will find out how important this lighthouse was to Great Lakes shipping for over 60 years. A wonderful place to spend an hour or more.

I visited Split Rock Lighthouse and State Park as a kid, and I was glad to find it even more dramatic as an adult. There is a $10/adult admission charge, but the buildings and grounds can provide a few hours of enjoyable family entertainment. Museum video and displays are informative and interesting, and four buildings (lighthouse, fog signal house, oil... More

We stopped for a visit to the lighthouse and after walked ar9ound and explored the trails. Very nice, well-kept grounds. Definitely a must see, beautiful trails and some very nice photo ops.

We were doing our MN waterfall tour and saw a sign for the lighthouse so we stopped. It was a beautiful lighthouse!

The lighthouse and hiking paths were amazingly beautiful. I highly recommend stopping and enjoying both! I was shocked that the living history staff were so cold and shared very little information about the lighthouse even when prompted with questions. They could use more coaching on how to interact with visitors while in character.

You do have to pay to enter the lighthouse but it is pretty interesting. It has great views of the North Shore and some nice walking paths. If you are driving up to the lighthouse from Duluth then you can stop at the Split Rock River right before the lighthouse and there is a nice loop trail to hike.

It was fun to learn how the light house came to be and house the ships hear the horn on the water. Very interesting on learning that the glass roatating light is from Paris!

Easy terrain hiking and great views of the famous lighthouse and Lake Superior. FYI - you can hike down to Lake Superior for FREE with your dog(s) if you take the state park trails, but you'll have to pay for a wristband and cannot bring animals if you use the historic site trails. The state park trails take you further... More

We camped 2 nights at the park, the campsites were un-reservable prior to the 2016 camping season so we took advantage of the ability to reserve a site. All the sites are within walking distance and the park provides utility carts to haul in your gear. Beware that sites 6-10 require a climb up a steep hill. Campsite 8 has... More
