Great for nature lovers. Spring/summer is a great time to visit, but fall is my favorite. So many good trails on the north shore.

Beautiful trail, however extremely muddy this time of year, made for slow progress. Campsites first come first serve so arrive early if you want a particular site. The trail itself is very technical at times with many elevation changes so beware.

Great mini-hike with my dog on the SHT through Hartley Nature Center. Thrilled to see the new Boardwalk from Hartley Rd a Trail to Root Canal, crossing the creek. Great way to spend the 4th of July!

We've hiked the shorter trails within the trail system - Oberg Mountain and Cascade River (our favorite), but we plan to hike more in a couple of weeks. It never gets old and is the best hiking in the state!

This was my first hiking trip. I'm in the military and very self sufficient and prepared for these kind of trips, but I have to say this trail took me by surprise. It has amazing trails and views. BUT...The trail was so washed out from...More

I hiked a couple of sections of the SHT near Two Harbors today. Both offered the varied terrain typical along the North Shore, with a fair amount of hill climbing. The payoff was the beautiful scenery and views of Lake Superior. The parts of the...More
