The Garden Salad with chicken was delicious. Kami was our waitress and the highest praise I could think of would be to say I would hire her in a minute if I owed a restaurant! Not only was she efficient at handling our table but she went above and beyond when she retrieved an earring I had dropped in between the deck slats. Also kudos to the restaurant for how they appeared to be training their staff. Everyone was exceptionally alert and responsive to the earring issue but also to refilling our iced tea, lemon in our water & bread to help with a low blood sugar.

Poor showing, Gnome. Came back to Saint Paul after a few years and tried it out. Three fails that are simple to fix with a little attention: 1) server should say hello and smile when a customer opens with that=poor service; 2) dont serve a platter with a sandwich and eight fries ("potato wedges") where there is a very side band of empty white plate all around the little pile of food=portion control; 3) chicken on fried chicken sandwich should not be mostly breading and fat/grizzle=food quality.

Went back to the Gnome in St. Paul. after a while. The place did not change much despite a new ownership. The service was good and some of the dishes were OK. The amount of food is right. The Pappardelle with chicken and porcini was good. The appetizer, the Poutine, a blend of cheese curds and wedge potatoes was very nice with a special Raclette sauce. The pear, fig and cheese sandwich was not there. No filling and no cheeses. The bread too thick. The Carved Beef was to dry and hard. The bread to thick also. The sauce was fine. Deserts: Crème Caramel or Flan. The whole dessert was tasty. The Crème Caramel needed more sugar and eggs.
The Cobbler, Peach, was tasty but the dough was soggy and completely undone.

Sunday 7:30 reservation on patio was perfect! Chris was our server and he recommended drinks, three on the drink list were sold out, because they’re good. The house Cabernet was🍷 decent for $7 a glass. Food was good , vegan options for me 👏🏼meaty options as well. This was a great Sunday stop🤗

Stopped here for lunch on way to airport - enjoyed walking the neighborhood a bit with the surrounding shops. The menu selection was interesting and the curry soup, tacos and salad were so delicious! The restaurant space and decor was comfortable and inviting with outdoor seating which was nice in the summer. Our server was friendly and very helpful.

We were visiting the area and were taken to the Happy Gnome by local friends who had not been there but had heard good things about the food. We had a reservation mix-up and were seated in a booth in the noisy bar section. Our server came, put down the menus without a word of greeting and walked away. A different person took our drink orders with the same lack of enthusiasm. We ordered our food, which arrived in good time. The food was hot and flavourful-no complaints. I resented the 20% tip that was left because I believe tips are for excellent service, something we did not receive.

Great service sitting at the bar despite it being overly busy. Had a pint and part of the massive soft pretzel served with beer cheese sauce while waiting for a friend - shared the other half :) Caught both on happy hour which was an incredible deal - $4.50 for a pint and $4 for a massive pretzel with cheese.

Once our group arrived, we were moved into the dining area. Service was friendly, food was delicious. Our entire table ordered the duck burger (one was a repeat offender). All were pleased with the flavor, texture and size of the burger. Highly recommend!

If you want a mix-up from the traditional bar menu, this is your place. Prices reasonable, happy hour specials great.

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe the ramen. On a -20 day with a glass of Chardonnay there’s no better way to spend an afternoon.

My wife and I got away for my birthday and this place was recommended to me. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for as we stopped for a late lunch. We ordered the pretzel appetizer which was good, and my wife had the tacos which she said were OK. I was a little apprehensive to order a burger that was plainly named “Cheeseburger.” But with the Surly coffee bender braised short rib’s on top of the patty with cheddar cheese and garlic aioli, it was quite possibly one of the top three burgers I’ve ever had in my life. And I’m a burger guy. I would definitely go back, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for good food and good beer.

This is an awesome place with a really cool bar space. My colleagues and I came here for dinner while I was in town – the local guy wanted to show us this place because we are beer fans and their menu didn’t disappoint! They had upwards of 90 different beers on the list and a great selection of local breweries which is always a great touch. The food was excellent, I had the sausage pizza and my friend from MSP apparently always has the duck burger which he says is amazing. The ambiance was cozy since it was cold out and there are a couple TVs in the corners showing some sports. The server was also excellent and even though they were extremely busy she took good care of us. Next time I’m back in town I will for sure be back – highly recommend.
