We go as a family and then split up when we get there--connected by phones. The best way to go is to take a bus from a suburban location. You don't have to fight the traffic. Lots to see and we always try a new and interesting food each year. In the hippodrome they are always having some kind of... More

The Minnesota State Fair is an amazing event if you've never been. My family has been showing livestock at the fair since the 1920's. Historical buildings, overwhelming amounts of food, crafts, displays, livestock , and shows. Truly wonderful. Takes more than one day to see it all. Need comfortable shoes.

Having participated as an exhibitor of flowers, fruits canning & bee products; I've experienced the passion & enthusiasm involved making MN fair top-rate firsthand. All involved insure WE have the best Fair in the country, from the food(everything on-a-stick) to the attractions & exhibitors. Don't miss buildings like the Ag-Hort where we have the only Crop art in the country.... More

If you are in Minnesota during the 12 days ending on Labor Day, you must go to The Fair. Rides, seed art, horse shows, crowds, Garrison Keillor, and every food you can imagine on a stick. Don't miss the prize chickens or the best mini donuts at the booth by the coliseum. Plan a full day and time to sleep... More

If you hate people, grease, sticks or animals- don't come. If you can enjoy the quirky side of life then this is your place! I have NEVER missed a year in my LIFE! And I wish to be a vendor there one day. THE best people watching- ever. Wear good shoes to burn off the food and drinks. Buy an... More

The Minnesota State Fair is huge! There's so much to see and do you really need 2 or 3 days. And there's so much food! Did I mention there's so much food!! I always go with a friend and we split all our food just so we can try different things. And for those that are gluten free, there's options!... More

It's really a lot of fun for everyone. Plan on spending all day there, or even a couple of trips back to make sure you see everything. More $$$...lots of yummy food but it's not wallet friendly.

The food is great, and a lot of it comes on stick, my favorite place is the corn on the cob place, fresh out of the fields and fresh off the grill dipped in butter and salted and ready to eat. Sweet Martha's cookies are on the list of eats as well. Get a bucket of cookies for the family... More

The food the food the food. It's the only reason I go :) Cheesecurds, Corn on the cob, and mini donuts are a few musts! Plus Sweet Martha's followed by a visit to the unlimited milk station :)
