- HelenV63 contributionsPretty Pretty!Visiting St Paul for 1 day - walked from the Capitol to the cathedral (10 min walk, easy!) and it was a happy surprise to find I could just pop in and have a look. Donations are accepted but there was no entry fee. It was beautiful inside as you would expect. There was one lone chap sat at a desk if you needed to as a question, there were a few people taking photos, all being quiet and respectful. I was only in there for 20 mons taking tome to look at a lot of the details ... so glad I popped in!Visited December 2022Written 4 December 2022

Even though we were not able to make it during the open hours, it is still worth the trip. It was beautiful, probably the biggest church I've seen in America.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 May 2023

Did not take a tour, but wandered around quietly taking photos and just appreciating the beauty of the place. Plentiful parking for those dropping by. Right near the James J Hill house if visting that, and the entirety of Summit Avenue which itself is just something to see.Visited July 2023Written 4 July 2023

It was an easy walk between the buildings but further than it initially appeared. Entrance could be made from either of the side doors. This one, however, compares well in terms of size and interior and is definitely worth a stop. We parked our car at the lot across the side street (it was a Saturday morning) and the cathedral wasn't quite open yet (I believe it opens at 10 AM?). So we walked the 10 minutes or so to the state capitol building to see it more closely, then back to the cathedral, at which time it was open and free to enter. The interior is large and impressive; we especially enjoyed the designs in the rotunda and the stained glass windows. Even just viewing the exterior would be worth a stop. It was a nice start to a Saturday spent seeing the sights of Minneapolis/Saint Paul.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 October 2023

The moment you lay eyes on those gleaming copper domes, you can't help but be in awe. The interior is equally stunning, with the intricate stained glass, towering columns, and the breathtaking altar. I felt a sense of serenity and wonder that's hard to put into words. The view from the front steps overlooking downtown St. Paul is like a postcard come to life. It's not just a place of worship; it's a piece of history and a true gem of Minnesota. If you're in the area, a visit to the Cathedral of Saint Paul is a must. It's a soul-soothing and awe-inspiring experience you won't forget.

This place is amazing. The artwork, stone work and stained glass are all gorgeous. It is a beautiful place to sit and reflect, or walk around and take it all in.

We unfortunately arrived just about 30 mins before closing so did not get to explore as much as wanted but was able to look around the sanctuary and was just amazed at its beauty. I recommend planning more time as understand they have a museum and more to see.

Is there parking on site?

There is a small lot next to the cathedral, otherwise there is just street parking. I'd suggest parking along nearby Summit Avenue and enjoying some of the mansions that line that street.

Sorry Bill,
Can't accurately answer but reckon if you contact the Archdiocese Office (Google it) they would be able to assist or advise you. Failing that contact the Local tourist office ? Just make sure you don't miss it , my photos don't do it full justice, Enjoy,
Skeney.
