A fascinating look at an unusual family's life style. The support structure of the family and house has been well preserved. Of particular interest was the working area of the house. The guides are very well trained and love their work.

This is an exciting historic mansion. Lots to learn, really takes you back to roots of Rochester. Must see if you are a historian of any degree.

Quite informative tour given by a lady who personally knew one of the Mayo grandchildren. She knew a lot as well as a couple other men there. You were able to ask questions and see the actual house items in their original rooms as well...More

We had seen pictures, like the one above, and were interested to see this home, from the outside, since tours don't take place until later in the spring. We drove around for about 1/2 hour before locating it. The first address we found for it,...More

Arranged through the trolley tours (which also are worth every penny). The Mansion is very informative about the Mayo founders and their families. Beautiful at Christmas!

Very informative mansion to learn the history of how the Mayo clinic got started as well as the residence of one of the founding people of it. A must see for someone who comes to Rochester to go to the Mayo Clinic from far away.

The Mayowood Mansion is well preserved and decorated. It is an excellent representation of the time it was occupied. The dosens are well informed and have many interesting stories to tell.

Hi, my husband & I were fortunate enough to visit the Mayowood mansion and its beautiful grounds. We didnt have a guide give us a tour due to a Mayo function going on at the time but the next time we are there we will deffinatlly be getting tickets to do the tour. We had lots of questions but unfortunatlly we didnt have the knowledge to understand about the houses or other questions we had, however there was a cave like building in the back of the original Mayo house that we were very interested in learning what that was. If anyone has any idea or knowledge of what that is we're very interested in knowing what that was used for. Thank you and I hope we'll soon find out.

The cave rooms were where they stored the ice cut from the lake in the winter. The rooms where than a large food storage.

I'm not sure. Contact Olmsted county historical society. There is a good place to rent nearby, called the mayowood stone barn. It's used for events and weddings.
