The museum covered pottery from several companies during the history of Red Wing displayed in large glass cases. The sizes of the crocks was amazing, and while I don't get into the 20th century styles and glazes, it's interesting to view. Donation requested.

I am truly sorry this great Pottery closed, but i am thrilled that they kept the place as a museum.
I have many pieces from years of visits and it is impressive seeing the history. I still have bowls and plate i use nearly every day. Watch for old pieces at estate sales. The museum is friendly and attractive.

Lots of jugs, plates and other pottery objects. It was fun seeing some of the dishes I remembered seeing as a kid. If you are in Red Wing it is worth a stop. I wouldn't make a day trip just to go there.

While my wife was off on a New England cruise with her lady friends, a friend joined me on a photo trip to pull some fall color through our camera lenses. We discovered the Pottery Museum of Red Wing which is a free attraction, but donations are welcome, and well deserved.
I am not a ceramicist, but I expect that visitors who are would rate this attraction as excellent (5). Both my friend and I were aware of the large historic Red Wing stoneware, and we knew something about other items that Red Wing had produced. When we saw this museum, we were amazed at the array of mid century productivity that had come from here. Red Wing has the right to claim it's own niche that is unique compared to tableware and art ware produced over the past two centuries in England, Europe, China and Japan.
We were disappointed in our timing for fall color photos; however, this visit here gave us new respect for the amazing pottery/ceramics made right here in Minnesota. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Stopped in and had a wonderful volunteer give us a tour. He pointed out the highlights and answered all our questions. Never knew there were so many different styles and things made. The history and pieces on display are very interesting to see.

Stopped here today while I was in the area and I was so glad we did. Lots of neat pottery pieces. Great history. The staff was so knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of great stories! They even had a photo scavenger hunt for our kids! They enjoyed hunting for the pieces throughout the museum. It's definitely worth a stop! And it's free!

So we had some time to kill & stopped to see some pottery. It was little to no interest for my boys (14 & 10), but they went along with it anyway. It was more of a "look at my collection" type of thing vs. the museum type stuff we were used to.

My daughter and I visited this museum after getting a tip from a local. It was very interesting to see the hundreds of examples of Red Wing Pottery, and to hear some history and facts from the volunteers. It was a quick visit, but free, so definitely worth the time for anyone with even a passing interest in the Red Wing Pottery's wares.

I loved looking at all the pottery that has been made in Red Wing. Three different people at the museum told us many interesting things and the best part was that they loved the museum so much and knew so much that we really didn't have to ask at all. They came up to us and asked US if we had questions and just started talking about all kinds of things we wouldn't have known had we been on our own. The people working and volunteering are very passionate about this museum and that really made the museum a wonderful place to stop!

There isn't an admission cost which is a plus. Lots of pottery history and pieces to look at. Definitely a fun place to go and spend some time.
