you can bring a boat, go hiking, go eating at some of the best restaurants in the midwest; i recommend the chickadee for breakfast. there are many places to just hang out with your family or friends.

There is a path that goes along Lake City along Lake Pepin and it a nice easy walk. We went when the ice was starting to break up and it was beautiful to see.

Very helpful ranger suggesting spots to see birds and vistas. A little late in the fall to see tons of birds. Plenty of woodpeckers, also a variety of ducks some eagles, lots of turkeys and tons of deer. Sunrise and sunset were excellent.

We drove the stretch of Lake Pepin from Pepin, WI to Red Wing, MN. Prettiest stretch of the river in my opinion. Just gorgeous with the hills, bluffs, winding road, sailboats and pretty water. Stopped at a few of the pullouts to get a good scenic look.

We did not go out on the water as we did not have time with other activities we had planned, but the water views were great and it was nice to see activity in the... More

Spectacular lake views of this amazing wide spot on the Mississippi will invite travelers to find lodging for an overnight on either the Minnesota or Wisconsin side. Laaaazy antique river towns that sometimes change character because of energetic social events invite travelers with particular interests. Wildlife beckons because of seasonal migrations, and yes, that includes winter for eagle watchers especially.... More

We traveled early Oct and the colors were just starting. The sky was blue and the colors popped against the green pines! Eagles teaching their young to feed and birds preparing for migration. Wonderful trip around the lake.

We drove down from Big Lake, MN and what a beautiful and relaxing area to visit. We stayed in the beautiful town of Red Wing and drove to Wabasha and enjoyedt the SeptOctober Fest, visiting the amazing eagle center and enjoyed the beauty that surrounds the area.
