Hike and Swim!

One of my favorite state parks. So many trails and a great swimming area. Only six miles away from downtown Pelican Rapids and 12 miles from The Inn at Dunvilla.

Read about this park in a magazine about the fall colors so decided to drive 1.5 for the scenery. A lot of the trees had lost their leaves but saw lots of "yellow". It's a really nice state park for hiking, camping, horseback riding and boating. You can do the scenic drive through the park which was nice. Some of... More

Canoe and Kayak rentals. Plenty of small lakes to fish on. The water is so clear and the sunsets and sunrise from the Campground are gorgeous. I'd say this is in out top 3 favorite state parks. Plus we can always bring our pet pooch. She loved it as much as we did.

We only stayed one night as we used this as a half way stop on our way to Glacier National Park from Massachusetts. Having stayed elsewhere in Minnesota in the past I thought it would be worth a chance at a state park, what could go wrong? Well nothing really. It was not crowded at all, I mean there was... More

Stayed one night during a motorcycle trip. It's a fairly big park. It has several campgrounds. We stayed in the Main campground. I think it was the only campground with showers however. The cars just kept coming to the shower house with people trying to get in a shower. There are only 4 showers (2 women's and 2 men's).

Fair bit of hiking opportunities, lots of scenery. Not as developed as some state parks, so not as crowded. Have camped here a few times now, always lovely.

We stayed in the Baker cabin and liked it. This was our first stay in a state park cabin. The shower house was pretty dingy. The main campground was only RVs and the tents were in the campground on the gravel road. We heard loons and saw fireflies at night. I fished at the pier and caught some small fish.... More

Why I have never camped at Maplewood State Park before is beyond me. We bought a new camper and as we were travelling with 6 dogs and 3 birds did not want to venture too far for our first trip, so looked for somewhere close. The website was very easy to book and the price for camping was great ($35... More

Restrooms/showers were clean and easy to get to from the main loops campgrounds. Many hiking trails with great views. Dog friendly.

I love this park. From snow shoe rental in the winter, to canoe and rowboat rental in the summer, this park is such a gem. It's quiet, pristine, and full of wildlife. The lakes are clear and amazingly healthy, with a vibrant and balanced ecosystem and undeveloped shoreline. The campground is also great -- nestled back in the forest. The... More
