his popular stop in Nubra Valley attracts every visitor, with hotels and cottages conveniently located nearby. The fame of this location is attributed to its iconic feature—the Bactrian camels with double humps. Seizing the opportunity for a camel ride here is highly recommended, as these camels are a unique feature not found elsewhere.
However, it's crucial to plan your visit thoughtfully. A substantial lunch break occurs from 12 pm to 4 pm, during which many visitors arriving from Leh or other locations reach the dunes. Keep in mind that the ticket counter is closed during this time.
Approximately 500 camels are situated at a distance, and to book a camel ride, you need to approach a designated person there who manages the ticketing. The cost for one person is Rs.350/-. The camel rides typically consist of 3-5 camels chained together in a tug. While enjoying the ride for 15-20 minutes, be cautious of your legs as the camels rise.
Beyond camel rides, additional activities such as ATV rides and archery are available, providing visitors with various options to make the most of their time at this bustling and enjoyable destination in Nubra Valley.

What is impressive is the combination of the mountainous surrounds, the glacial stream, how pouring rain suddenly ceased for our visit, the camels and rides and oh yes those dunes

It’s a must visit when going to Ladakh. Sand dunes on one side with mountains which are snow capped with a stream on another is out of this world

One of the best places to visit in Ladakh and a must visit for anyone coming here.

We have great sand dunes 25 miles from our home, but the usual tidal ones created at beaches. Sand dunes at nearly 11,000ft aren't that common. And ones as spectacularly located as to be surrounded by snow topped mountains even rarer. Superb. Activities if you wish, camel rides seemed popular. I've experienced long camel rides, I don't want even short ones.

What we see here is breath taking Karakoram mountain ranges, then Shyok river and then Desert - all in one frame. This makes the place a must visit. They have a few activities lined up like double hump camel rides, some ATV and some other odd activities. There is a restaurant which serves decent snacks

Overrated attraction. Unorganised. Just a long stretch of land and few camels .No signboards ,no counters . Animal faeces on the ground too .We returned without the ride .

An interesting natural paradox: sand dunes stretching for miles alongside the Shyok River. A great way to explore is a camel ride, As the dunes are hard to traverse.

When in Nubra valley, the double hump camel ride is the most sought after. The views are amazing.
The camel ride is closed between 1-4pm for lunch. So plan accordingly.

Overcrowded. Disorganised. Seems to be more of a tickbox exercise if one visits it. It is very beautiful from afar.
