Walking Around Lake of the Isles
Great trip! We arrived at approximately 5 pm and started the loop drive around Lake of the Isles. There were several miles worth of walking and biking trails that encircled the lake, that provided spectacular views of the water. There were many people out and about that day, and there were plenty of parking spaces to be found. The loop drive was clearly marked, and also included signs pointing to nearby attractions. Tip: I recommend spending an hour here in order to have a nice relaxing walk next to the water.

    You will love it
This is a lovely spot for running, walking or just having a nice meal by the lake with friends. The park alone is beautiful but you will have the chance to see some gorgeous houses along the way, as well as the lake. I mean, what else would you want.

A peaceful place to walk around on. a beautiful day
I walked around this lake twice during my first visit to Minneapolis. I stayed in Uptown and really didn't love the location of my hotel too much but very much enjoyed walking around this lake. Beautiful place with gorgeous old houses all around. Many people walking, running, biking, dogs. Just a great relaxing place!

Beautiful lake, good walking and biking trails. Extra fun to see the large fancy houses nearby. If you’re in the city and need some green space, it is here!

We took a walk around the lake with our kids and were happy with the scenery. My wife enjoyed looking at the homes and the neighborhood in general. It was a pretty popular path when we were on it but everyone shared the Parh well and appreciated that the bike path was separated from the walking path

The only gripes I had was that there weren’t many water fountains. I’ll admit we weren’t the best prepared as we went as a spur of the moment. However, when we did the full lap we saw maybe two water fountains. And the were pretty close together on one side of the lake. Also, we saw that there were boat rentals online. However, make sure you book beforehand as there is no way tk do it there, we saw the canoes but no way of renting them

We drove around Lake of the Isles and admired all of the blooming gardens and trees. We love this area and used to spend a lot of time here walking. The home owners put a lot of effort into having spring displays of flowers. It was absolutely gorgeous, just like going to a drive-through garden. Car speed is limited to 25 mph because of the large amount of pedestrian and bike traffic, so you can really enjoy people's gardens. And, a couple of the mansions are for sale!

The most peaceful and scenic of the lakes amongst the Chain of Lakes in Minneapolis. Can easily be accessed through the channel connecting to Lake Bde Maka Ska(formerly known as Lake Calhoun) where kayaks and canoes can be rented.

Minneapolis Parks and Rec Dept does a great job of keeping all the lakes connected and user friendly. You can't go wrong with this lake either. It's got plenty of walking paths, and green space for just hanging out (and staying socially distant). It's also connected to Lake Bde Maka Ska (formerly Calhoun) by a channel so it's good for whatever water sport you like (SUP, kayaking, canoeing)--rental on the shores of the other lake.
