I've used the Midtown Greenway many times with my own bike or with the easy to use Minneapolis bike share program. This trail connects the "always busy" Uptown section to south Minneapolis and beyond.

The Midtown Greenway is somewhat of a bicycle freeway. It is mostly below street level and carries a lot of traffic. It is used extensively by bicycle commuters. It even has a bike shop right on the trail with a place to freshen up. Although there have been some efforts to make the Greenway attractive, especially by businesses bordering the... More

This is both commuting bikeway and a great place to experience biking without a great amount of exertion as it is almost level. Great exercise and a great way to get a sense of the neighborhoods it passes through.

During my 3 day stay in Minneapolis, I used the Greenway every day. It was perfect for transporting by bike and having a safe, car-free method of travel. Others on the trail were friendly and we used the trail to access the chain of lakes and well as to get from uptown to downtown. There are plenty of places to... More

We had a great time on the Greenway! We enjoyed seeing great urban planning, and it was a convenient way to get quickly to the chain of lakes area. Very well maintained as well.

Because, that's basically what the Greenway is. When I first moved to the twin cities, I hopped on more as a leisurely activity. It's beautiful in the summer because of the continuous green space and parks that sit along the trail. But, I also ride this route away from the city too as a commuting route. If you've visiting, there... More

This paved path runs from the Mississippi River all the way out to Hopkins. I believe it used to be a railroad, but it was gutted and made into a path for bikes, walkers, skaters, etc. This is one of the best bike paths in the country!

A 5.5 mile trail going from the Chain of Lakes on the west end to West River Parkway on the east end and goes right through South Minneapolis. The trail offers a dedicated trail to bikers, walkers and skaters running parallel to Lake street with access to hundreds of restaurants, shops and other businesses (one of my favorites is the... A safe, free from auto traffic, bike and walking route for active people. Call boxes every 1/4 mile or so in case of an emergency. Wide paths and a bike shop along the way.
