I visited Minneapolis for work in February. Needless to say, I was not keen on wandering the surface streets so I grabbed a skyway map from the hotel and ventured out. It's really an amazing system, and it's amazing that all these businesses are connected...More

It’s nice to have the first skyway system in America, in the cold and long winter in Minnesota, people don’t have to walk outside with jackets, they just wear light clothes go through different buildings use the skyway, come and experience the very unique Minnesota...More

Skyways are a fun way to get around downtown. Sometimes they are a bit confusing but that's half the fun. Read the signs and dont be afraid to ask for directions. Most folks downtown are proud of the skyway and would be more than happy...More

We tried to get to Target but one of the access doors was locked. We were not sure why. Other people tried to open in as they were coming from the parking deck and heading to Target.

Using the Skyway system downtown is a wonderful way of getting around. It is a lot faster than trying to get around outside and waiting for the lights to change. Pretty easy to get around by just reading the signs.

We have skywalks in Duluth as well, but both my wife and myself were really impressed with the one in Minneapolis. We used it to walk from Government Plaze where we parked our car towards Target Field for the baseball game. It was very clean,...More

Being a foreigner to Minnesota, I thought I had enough lays of clothing to walk the downtown area. I was wrong. Visiting in April, the temps where still in the single digits. Brrr. I was able to walk allover the down town area, use public...More

This is so confusing to get around in but much better than being in the cold. I'm not sure why they don't have more signs or maps up to help tourist. GPS is iffy in there, at least on the two different phones we tried...More

The skyway system is great to stay out of the cold but man is it confusing to a tourist! The homeless/beggars were a bit sketchy but it was still a good system to keep out of the cold!

SO SMART! Having the skyway gives people the opportunity to lighten the foot traffic on the street and opens up more business opportunities for restaurants and shopping. In a city where temperature extremes are the norm, this was well-thought-out.

Most skyways follow the Uniform Skyway Hours: M-F 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. Sat 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sun Noon - 6 p.m. Watch for the blue signs. Some skyways may be open longer hours, some fewer.

I would suggest getting on google maps to figure out which bus stop/bus route will be the closest to you. I believe a 742 or 747 are Plymouth express routes that go into downtown(make sure you know the time of the last route... More
