The home is interesting, and it was fun to see the architecture. The back story of a family who barely lived there and didn't tend to entertain was sad. We enjoyed the Fika Restaurant and the gift shop too.

The physical location is amazing - even if the back story is a bit odd. However, we were there to visit an art exhibit. The combination of the facility with the art installation was IDEAL. We will be back

I first visited the American Swedish Institute over 30 years ago. While it was an interesting experience in the 1980s, since then it has become much more lively, and a venue for all sorts of cultural events. Four different organizations were holding events there when I went on a guided tour. The restaurant is reasonably priced and serves authentic Scandinavian... More

The house defies superlatives- it is that giant and full of woodwork and overall overwhelming in scope. The cafe is beautifully cozy-sized yet open and conducive to quiet conversation or people-watching. Enjoy both- they are unique.

The Institute hosts unique and interesting exhibits related to Sweden and the Nordic countries. Housed in a historic mansion, which was tastefully expanded a few years ago, the building also includes a wonderful cafe with real Scandinavian food.

Extravagant mansion, full of surprises. They have three or four main shows a year, all different and related to Scandinavia. The building has numerous alcoves and quirky rooms.

A friend was visiting from our of state and we took her to the American Swedish Institute. In addition to their regular exhibits, they had a wonder display for the northern European celebrations of the holidays. The docents were all very helpful and informative. We spoke with three different docents who were very willing to share their experience and interests.... More

Was here during the Christmas celebration. The home was so beautiful! Enchanted to hear a children's choir in the upstairs also. The tour was very interesting. Highly recommend eating in the cafe. The holiday glögg was fun and tasty, and so was the food! I wish we had not eaten breakfast before our visit. Really enjoyed the Swedish meatballs. Totally... More

While I had previously toured this incredible home - this trip was dedicated to a Saori Weaving class. It was an afternoon class on free style weaving and was a relaxing, informative and fun experience. I would recommend checking out what classes you might be interested in.
