We are fortunate to have not only 10,000+ lakes in Minnesota, but to have several of them right in the heart of the city of Minneapolis! We like to take a leisurely drive around all those Mpls chain of lakes at least once every year. From Wirth Lake to the north, down through Brownie, Cedar, Lake of the Isles, to... More

These beautiful lakes are wonderful to walk around. Big fancy houses border the walkways. We go ice skating on this lake in the winter. But then in Minnesota you can skate on any frozen lake. As far as I know there is no swimming beach on this lake. It is also located within the city limits of Minneapolis.

I bike around the lakes, walk around the lakes, skate on the lakes and ski on the lakes. When showing off my city to out-of-town guests, I take them there to look at the mansions of people living on the lakes There is no lake front residential property. All the houses are across the street and biking/walking trails circle and... More

Probably nowhere else can you find a chain of lakes as impressive as this one. Good in all seasons. The are all walkable. You can bike, jog or even ride around them. With friend or alone, it die not matter, nature is always wonderful.

A wonderful resource at the edge of the City, the Chain of Lakes are easily walkable, are bordered by parkways with some beautiful houses, bluffs, or parkland, beaches and recreational areas for play, piers for fishing, pathes for jogging, etc. With the Downtown buildings looming several miles away, the lakes are close to transportation, and the happening "Uptown" neighborhoods and... My wife and I truly enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of the lakes and forests that surround them. We went for many a quiet stroll enjoying the wildlife that appeared often to our delight.

We love taking a nice Sunday drive. Even better if we can go on weekday. Much less traffic. Whenever you go, be sure to get out and walk-around Lake Calhoun is probably the nicest walk.scenic, manageable, and great views. The Lake Harriet rose garden is amazing, ang that lake is a good one for paddle boarding or kayaking.I live here in a... More

The chain of lakes may be my favorite place in the twin cities. The walking/running and bike paths are amazing. We frequently rent paddleboards at Lake Calhoun. They're also all very pet-friendly.
