THE GUTHRIE THEATER is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training, known for its dynamic productions of classic and contemporary plays. Open to the public year-round, this award-winning cultural destination houses three theaters, dramatic public spaces and distinctive dining. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie is located in the historic Mill District of Downtown Minneapolis and features a 175-foot cantilever bridge which overlooks the Mississippi River. When it opened in 2006 Time magazine called the building "a 21st century dream factory." Visit the Guthrie to see a show, grab a cup of coffee and explore the building, shop at the Guthrie Store, or to simply take in the extraordinary riverfront views. Backstage tours are Friday and Saturday mornings.

We've been to countless shows at the Guthrie and have loved them all. They're set and costume design are a treat for the eyes. Excellent productions, tons of talent, not a bad seat in the house! We always love walking outside around the area, too....More

The best large theatre venue in the Midwest. Gives Broadway theaters a good run and so much more affordable.

First rate theater experience. A traditional proscenium stage and a thrust stage. Superb drama, actors, sets and costumes, plus spectacular views of the Mississippi River from the windows. The building itself is very unusual. Minneapolis is proud of the Guthrie.

I haven't had a chance to see any play here, but the building itself is an example of great architecture: from futuristic exterior to international playwrights profiles on the outside to the Endless Bridge, a fantastic viewpoint!

A wonderful place to enjoy top-notch performances. Newly discovered: the Amber box is a quiet space to enjoy a drink and take in the spectacular river view.

During our bus excursion one stop was a visit to Guthrie Theater. It was an interesting tour including the endless bridge--a special viewing area of the Mississippi River.

The Guthrie is downtown Minneapolis is easy to get to with ample public ramp parking across the street. The theater will validate (even on a night when Cold Play concert was in town). The play Native Gardens was quick paced and funny. No intermissions. Great...More

Do whatever it takes to get you into this excellent venue. I suspect your first visit won't be your last and you will be able to judge for yourself whether premium pricing is warranted for "preferred" seating. Enjoy!
