My employer hosted a company wide event at the Nicollet Island Pavilion recently. I’d never been and was surprised by how gorgeous this park is! It’s located right on the river with rolling hills and picturesque views of the Grain Belt bridge... and SO close to walk- easily can walk to St Anthony Main area. Great park for dogs!

Nicollet is a nice little stop over and for those that live there, probably a great respite from the higher paced urban life on either side of the river.

The Victorian homes are nice but I wasn't blown away. We waved at a couple of residents who didn't wave back so I wonder if they don't wish they were even more secluded.

It is certainly a great place to walk and there are some nice views. It's also very easy to access from downtown hotels.

As I often say, average is not bad. It's worth a pass through.

As you stroll along the shaded path with the beautiful Mississippi River lazily flowing toward the St Anthony dam you come across an interesting archway you can walk under on your way to the parking lot. It is beautiful enough that it peaks your interest to take your picture under it and read the inscription. The plaque reads as follows:
"Bell of Two Friends Dotaku." Such bells date to the Yayoi periods of Japanese history, approximately 2,000 years ago. The exact purpose of Dotaku is lost to history but is thought to largely be ceremonial, rather than functional. This sculpture represents a greatly enlarged half-moon of a dokatu bell found in Ibaraki, Japan. The exact purpose of Dotaku bells is lost to history, but it is felt they were largely ceremonial, rather than functional. The surface design of the bell suggests the importance of the ever-present waters and mountains of Japan. Artist: Sonlag-Sattel 2001

July 25, 2017 - Upon arrival at Minneapolis, we walked 15 minutes to Nicollet Island to see the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra playing at the Nicollet Island Pavilion. After the concert, we explored the area around the Pavilion and discovered strategically located picnic areas with amazing view of the Mississippi River and dam. It is a great place to bring a book and relax for the afternoon or bring the family and get close to nature, not far from the bustling downtown Minneapolis.

Great views of the Mississippi river (including some small waterfalls) and the Minneapolis skyline. Fun place for a party.

I have lived in Minnesota for most of my life but only recently took a long walk around Nicollet Island. On the south end you have a great view of the falls, the middle of the island has DeLaSalle, The Nicollet Island Inn and of course the famous Grain Belt sign while the North end is full of historic homes all fabulously restored and showing their true grandeur. The homes here rival many other famous rows of houses, with the city skyline off in the distance, think Charleston, or San Francisco. It's hard to imagine that you are only a few blocks away from skyscrapers and the concrete jungle while walking around here. This should be on every tourists bucket list as the trails around the river make for a great couple mile walk.
