We went there after seeing the aquarium. Bastion point is just a short walk from there. It is a quiet place to relax and unwind. You will get a lovely view of the Rangitoto island & Auckland CBD.

A park set on a rise overlooking the sea. There are a number of sculptures and the Michael Savage memorial. Great views over the sea and plenty of space.

Bastion Point is an absolutely stunning spot to have a picnic and watch the world go by on a sunny day. The gardens are well kept and beautiful. There were a couple of wedding parties taking photos around the area too

We lived in auckland for over 12 years and visited nearly everywhere, but on a visit back we looked at Bastion Point. The views are goos and the garden around the monument was nice, but I could have survived without seeing it. If I did it again would have walked up the stairs from Mission Bay.

It had the most tranquil and colourful garden. Bastion Point offers magnificent views out over the Hauraki Gulf and Waitemata Harbour. It's remembrance for its history for Maori protests.

Always worth a visit, especially with a cafe on site. Shame that Auckland Council did not put a drinking fountain on the refurbished toilet block - water would be welcome after a climb up the hill for walkers.

Such a gorgeous spot in Auckland, beautiful gardens, gorgeous views and a quiet relaxing place for a picnic lunch or dinner when the weather is warm. A site full of history and well worth visiting.

On the way to Mission bay, you should take a detour to Bastion point. It has a significant historical value to both Maori and Pakeah. The views of Waitemata Harbour from the top are worth the visit.
Part of this are the beautiful and well maintained Michael Joseph Savage gardens where you can spend some quiet and peaceful time.
If you are looking for a bit of exercise, you can take the steps that are located opposite to mission bay.

We visited this place during our hop on hop off bus tour. It was very quiet when we came. The place offers a beautiful city views and green lush around the monument. Overall it took us only 15 minutes to walk around and took some pictures.
