We stopped at the Forest History Center while driving from Bemidji to Duluth knowing nothing more than it was a good halfway stopping point and would be free with our MN History Society membership. Turns out, it was a wonderful stop and one of my husband's favorite things we did on our summer vacation. All MN history locations have great... More

I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. You get a feel for what life was like in the logging camps and have a better understanding of how all of this was accomplished. The staff dress in period specific garb and did an excellent job of bringing you back in time to the way it was in the... More

A must-stop when visiting Grand Rapids! Interesting history and logging camp re-enactment. Check out their great list of year-round events, too. You'll be visiting more than once!

Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, food was excellent although a little spendy, well worth the price, best steaks in town. Will return again.

This was a great place to go learn about the local communities heritage, and learn about local nature. My kiddos had a great time, and my husband and myself learned a lot as well!

We went with our young teens here, they had been here before on field trips, but this was our first trip as a family. We were there for their 'pie celebration' and it was great! We enjoyed the food, the history, and hiking around the beautiful trails.

This is a great place to bring your family. All the employees kept to their historical parts. We love the horses. There are activities for children too. The singing is authentic.

Climb the 10-story fire tower for a bit of a thrill and great view. Step back in time and imagine braving the winters as logger or a kitchen 'cook-ie', and then wander on winding wooded trails through the trees. I love historical 're-enactments' so this place was exciting to see how people labored. Nice gift shop too.

We stopped here on a road trip and it ended up being one of our favorite stops. We have kids ages 11 and 13 and both loved the interactive history and climbing the fire tower.

Everything was presented by people in period costumes and very up close and personal experience. Very comprehensive tour and informative.
