I probably enjoyed this more than the kids (teenagers) but even the museum managed to hold their attention for an hour, the adjacent trails were nice because they walked the trails and I spent a little extra time at the museum

The place introduces the woman that lived alone in wilderness. If you're new to the area, it would be a great start to visit the museum. Guided tour is included and is a must to get more information.

This relatively small museum (consisting of a gift shop/exhibit area and two log cabins) is a real treat. It shows how a single woman lived for years all by herself in the remote areas of the Boundary Waters (before and after it was designated as such). Talk about grit!" You see how people cut ice from frozen lakes and crated... More

My wife and I were in the area for the day. We were new to the area and were looking for ways to spend the day. We saw advertisements for the Dorothy Molter Museum and decided to stop by. We had just returned from the wolf center up the road where we didn’t see a single wolf during our visit... More

For as long as we had been going to Ely, we finally made the time to go to this museum. I am so glad we did! This woman's history and story is so enlightening. I am glad we were able to see and feel the spirit of Dorothy in the exhibits and the narratives. I definitely recommend. It is a... More

This certainly has local flavor, but Dorothy was an amazing woman and I brought my family to see the museum and to learn of her history and a bit of Minnesota Conservation History. I have read and shared my book on Dorothy and my family very much enjoyed the tour (hats off to Jess) and the rebuilt cabins.
