I love Dorothy, she was a down to earth and a very caring lady. One could learn many lessons by her. She was one heck of a woman and very strong willed. Wish I would have actually met and talked to her.

Dorothy was by no means conventional nor was her cabin. This attraction will not consume much more than an hour of your time, but it gives you an excellent representation of what life was like on the Boundary Waters. I fully enjoyed this unique visit.

It was very interesting to see the cabin Dorothy lived in and to learn how she got up to the boundary waters and to see the way she lived.

This museum was so interesting esp since we had read her books and enjoyed them immensely. We know people who had visited with her throughout her life and what a life it was! So great for all ages.

Don't miss the Museum and cabin if you want to learn about a woman who made other peoples lives better. And the root beer is great too.

Offers a glimpse into the life of a local legend that lived out in the woods alone. She is famous for her lifestyle - choosing to stay in a cabin on an island miles from civilization. There are very nicely done displays, information telling her...More
