Dogs loved tanning loose on the beach. Skipping rocks was a great time passer. Some families joined us to build castles in the fine sand. Watched barges slowly come into the harbor while sail boats gently passed by.

Long, clean beach- swim at your own risk & read up on escaping riptides. It was perfect temp in early August to go in, or just walk in the surf. Decent parking midweek in August, all the way down by the airport. Not wheelchair friendly- beach access requires climbing steps, crossing older wood boardwalk and going down steps without railing on beachside.

We have been to Duluth several times now and this was our first time to ParkPointe beach. It’s a nice sandy beach and only five miles down the road from Canal Park. We were on our way to our next destination but it’s a great place to swim in the Lake. The water was warmer than usual at 72 degrees. Many people were swimming.

We spent a couple of hours at this beach and it was so relaxing for the adults and fun for the kids! There were lots of waves and our youngest son loved throwing in the pieces of driftwood from the beach and watching them come back. Another son was having such a nice time metal detecting that he didn't want to leave. Another enjoyed just standing in the shallow water. My husband and I just relaxed and enjoyed watching them having a good time. We hope to come back and maybe even rent one of the properties on the beach!

What a gem! Easy to get to by car across the lift bridge - I believe you could also walk easily from Canal Park. The beach was so quiet and it was fun to watch people with stand-up paddle boards. The view of Lake Superior is stunning!

We have visited Duluth several times in the past and had never driven all the way down Minnesota point. It is such a cool area! The beach is so fun and a great place to relax. I would love to have a house on Minnesota Ave.!

Driving over the Aerial Lift Bridge was fun to get to Park Point. The beach is clean and the water is clear, fun to look for interesting rocks. The views of Lake Superior and of Duluth are wonderful.

Wood debris pretty much covers the entire beach. It is littered with trees and roots from erosion, historically high lake levels, and storms in recent years. I was disappointed by the looks of it. I hope it gets some much needed attention soon.

My husband and I stayed at Park Point Marina Inn. On our last day we decided to take a drive to the end of Park Point. What a beautiful area. we did not take advantage of the park or beaches because it was cold but the views were AWESOME! The bridges and huge boats docked and coming and going were a site to see. The cruise ship was in while we were there and we got to see that which is rare for this area. The wildlife area is also teaming. Bring some binoculars!

had lost of fun walking around taking in the sites of the day. The rocks to climb across getting to the lighthouse was a blast. I really had fun only wish the bathrooms were a little better but as for parks they were ok.

No on weekends it might be hard to find parking.

Dogs are allowed but must be controlled on a leash at all times and cleaned-up after. We love dogs and have our own....unfortunately there are irresponsible humans everywhere. Do be careful of those who do not follow the rules. I have had to call the police more than once regarding aggressive dogs with irresponsible humans on the Park Point beach.

I was stationed at Duluth IAP in 1977. We use to go smelting at Park Point every year. Does the lake still produce smelt at Park Point?
Written 29 December 2016
I know they were smelting there as of 2014......but it does seem better around Lester River and other rivers up the North Shore.

Looking for a great place to watch the sun set. Wonder if this may be the spot
Written 21 July 2016
do u need tickets to go down to see the tall ships
Written 2 July 2016
You can see the Tall Ships come in off the big lake on any city hilltop. A good place to watch is Enger Tower garden area! Great view, and great setting around the hillsides. To see them up close, down in the harbor anchored, you need tickets to get close, and the crowds will make waiting in line take a long time. Once aboard, its not as special as seeing them in full sail out on the big lake!
