Finished in 1908, this Lake Superior 39-room mansion enjoys a rare, intact collection of original furnishings and art. Because of that, it closely resembles the days when the Congdon family first occupied it. Truly, it is Duluth's answer to Downton Abbey.

Situated on a wooded lot, the home boasts spectacular views of Lake Superior, as well as, multiple gardens including formal, flower and vegetable. Guests are also encouraged to explore the carriage house, boat house, stone bridge and pier. Children enjoy the pebbled beach for hours of rock skipping while parents take in a sit on one of Adirondack chairs.

Be sure to check out Glensheen as part of your must-do Duluth bucket list.

Finally got to tour this historic place - I enjoyed taking in the entire house but would have loved more information about the home and its occupants. Most of the tour was self guided and there isn't much information to read. "Guides" seemed mostly there to ensure you didn't touch anything. Will want to go again in the summer to... More

Our family decided to go to Glensheen over the Holiday break as we had not seen it before. Loved the decorations for Christmas and there were not too many people at this time of year. We took the full mansion tour which takes you to the third floor to see the bedrooms and attic. Would definitely recommend taking a guided... More

This is a must see if you're in Duluth. This mansion was owned by the Condon family, and they donated it to UMD, and they run it now. It's a chance to see how they live in a very nice mansion in the early 1900's

We recently visited Glensheen during the Christmas season. It was fun to visit at this time of year to see the mansion fully decorated with 25 Christmas trees through the home. Our tour guide was good and was able to answer most questions ask by those on our tour.

Glensheen is a highly publicized attraction that's overrated. Upon our arrival we weren't that impressed. Prices for the tours are steep and lengthy. The whole place is rather pretentious.

My wife and I had never been here before but driven buy many times. I would recommend going while the house is decorated for Christmas, its very beautiful. We will be going again in the summer too, the gardens would be fun to see.

We have driven by several times and finally stopped in. The guided tour was sold out, so we did the $15 self guided tour. You pay an extra 5 bucks for the tour guide and you get to see the third floor. Each room was decorated for Christmas and there were employees in each room to answer questions. It is... More

We came here hoping to understand the history of Duluth a little more and while one doesn't control the weather, it was not shoveled and was very poor for handicapped folks. The person at the ticket office didn't seem to understand my wife was handicapped until we told her. By that time our van was long gone. I hope to... More

This is an amazing place to visit. Took the Christmas tour and it was a very interesting and educational trip. The place was decorated pretty much as it would have been around 1910 for the holiday but with some modern elements to round out, plus the addition of elves that were "hidden" which helped with the kids on the tour... Great Christmas tour. Bought the $15 tour tickets and saw most of what I had seen years ago but in Christmas decor! It was lovely! Will probably go for the $26 tickets next time just to see more. A great holiday adventure!
