Hawthorne Vineyards is a friendly boutique vineyard and tasting room destination just four miles North of Traverse City on Old Mission Peninsula. We're passionate about making finely crafted, small production quality wines from our estate fruit. Our 80 acre site is nestled into a ridge above Peninsula Drive with postcard views of East and West Grand Traverse Bays. Hand crafted wines are created from the vineyard’s acreage of Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Lemberger, Gamay, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling. Surrounding traffic and disruptions vanish as guests make their way up the winding private drive to the most peaceful and serene vineyard destination on Old Mission.

Loved the cherry wine here and staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the scenery from the small patio. Tucked away on a hillside with a lovely view on both sides.

Driving up the drive you can't help but imagine the beauty you will see once you reach the destination. It doesn't disappoint! This tasting room is bright and cherry, the staff is very helpful and accommodating. If you like a peppery finish try their Gamay....More

Great variety of wines. Nice place to buy a glass and enjoy on their patio overlooking the bay. They have a nice outdoor fireplace. They had entertainment the day we were there. Wines from $12 and up.

Bruce's Blend and the 2013 reserve merlot were lovely. Caroline did a great job presenting the wines.

We stopped here while staying on the peninsula for a girls weekend. This was the only negative experience of our weekend. The customer service was dreadful. They have great views and some tasty wine but I did not purchase any due to the service issues....More

As the manager of Hawthorne Vineyards it's always disappointing to read reviews on Trip Advisor that are less than satisfactory. I take great pride in the staff and their ability to treat everyone as part of our family. That being said, I cannot tell from...More

Out of the six wineries we visited, this was one of our two favorites. Smaller and not as commercialized as some. Had great wine pourer, Ruth Ann, who was super personable and friendly. She made the experience. The view coming up the drive was gorgeous....More

Lovely vineyards surround this indoor and outdoor setting with views of the bay on both sides. Wine was good. Limited reds on the sweeter spectrum. Service was what turned us off. Busy but also seemed disorganized. There were several tending to tasters but no one...More

Cambria hotel and suites, you will love it here. Not to many shuttles going to any vineyard. As for a dress code come as you are and no restaurant at this vineyard.
