Small town USA. We love walking front street and window shopping and dining at any of the yummy places along front. Summertime is especially wonderful but winter has its perks too.

Lot's of great shops and restaurants. The sidewalks are very treacherous in the winter though. I'm surprised they don't do a better job.

There is a large variety of stores on Main Street Traverse City for virtually all budgets. If you tire of shopping there are many very good non chain restaurants. I always find it fun to be on Main Street.

Fun to look, a bit pricey in spots. Make sure you stop in Cherry Republic for everything cherry. Except for restaurants, most stores close early (5 pm) anytime other than summer.

Although I can't answer with certainty, it's a very up and coming city, so I'm sure gluten free is an option. I would check the menu online first to be sure!
