This is a really cool fixture in the area. I would highly recommend biking some portion of this trail if you can! You have the option of traveling as far as you like and there are so many great places along the route. And there are several places to rent a bike if you want to do a self-guided ride!

This is a truly nice trail for bikes until... you run into a road crossing. These are numerous when you approach Traverse City. If the town would build bike bridges, it would be kid friendly and much safer.

Excellent walking trails. Great place to walk and enjoy the lake. The only negative thing is this trail is shared by cyclists. Some cyclists travel at high speeds on paths and will run you over without giving you due notice when they are passing.

Thanks for the great review and the feedback! All trails in the TART Network are multi-use. With the growing popularity of trails nationwide, it's more important than ever that all trail users know and obey the proper rules of the trail. Bikers should not be traveling high speeds on the trails and should be alerting walkers when passing. Walkers should... More

I grew up in TC, and ever since the TART trails first came into existence I've gone rollerblading, bicycling and walking on the TART trail. I've gone all the way from Bates Road at M-72E to Suttons Bay on my bicycle. My husband is learning to rollerblade, and the TART trail is a safe place for him to practice where... More

The TART trail is for everyone - walkers, runners, cyclists, pets! Paved and well marked, easy trail. A great way to work off extra calories or just relax. Trail goes from TC to Suttons Bay!

The Leelanau Trail runs from Traverse City to Suttons Bay. The TART Trail runs from Traverse City to Acme. In the near future, the TART trail will connect to Elk Rapids and eventually the Little Traverse Wheelway in Charlevoix that runs to Petoskey/Harbor Springs. Stay tuned as more is coming! More

Perhaps the best way to get around town. In town there are a lot of traffic crossings, but once out of town it is vary open and scenic.

Thanks for your review! The trail is right through the heart of town and gives access to many restaurants and area attractions which also have bike racks and welcome those traveling by human power. Many area businesses also have bowls of water for our furry four-legged friends. More

Traverse city is nicely set up for tourists to get around. Many of the buses have bike racks in front as well as make frequent trips. Parking is plentiful and fairly inexpensive (60 cents an hour).
