This park has two parts: the beach for day visits, and the camping side. This review is about the camping. You're definitely not going to get a typical outdoor camping experience here, but it's fine for what it is: a campground in a bustling city. The big draw here is downtown Traverse City and the events there, and the beach... More

We visited in early August and always had neighbors at our tent campsite. We were happy to find hot showers and clean bathrooms. We didn't have any 'critters' visit us, as is often the case in busy campgrounds. We were taken by the numerous hammock campers. In other words, they show-up and hang their hammock and call it a night.... More

Nice location for visiting Traverse City. Be prepared for road and aircraft noise, not terrible but noticeable. Sites are packed in among pines. A visit in 2015 saw us having to switch sites because we could not fit into the site we reserved. Thankfully we visited after Labor Day and this was possible. Not certain what we would've done if... A pretty decent Park just across the road from Grand Traverse Bay. A nice bride that safely walks you OVER the road to the beach from the State campground! We love to camp there and the kids have fun on their bikes 🤗

Stayed with friends ... Nice sites and clean bathrooms ... Only problem we never had hot water but to be expected when you stay at a busy place

The park is located across the street from an outstanding park on East Grand Traverse Bay. Inside the park are some great shady campsites supporting tents and RVs up to 30 ft. They accommodated my 38 ft 5th Wheel but it was tight fit and they allowed me to park my truck in an adjacent site. Staff was friendly and... More

A wonderful campground nestled between hotels, restaurants, a beach and a (loud) airport. Somehow, even though there's a lot going on around this campground, you feel like you're in the deep woods. I love when it's full every Labor Day and other families are enjoying their time by the fire, riding bikes and having a good ol' time. The park... More

Staff were very accomodating and sites were well kept -- clean. I was surprised at how many other "fall" campers joined us for the weekend. Gorgeous weekend -- great campfires.

I love nature, but because we are from MI, we HAVE to purchase a season ticket "good til March" $11 or you can't enter. Well we had driven that whole way so we did. You walk a short path to the lighthouse, but you pay more to enter, we went down to the beach..there is no beach. It's beautiful in... More

Quiet and pretty in the fall. We were able to go for a run with the dogs on the Tart Trail (right behind the park) then afterwards cross the pedestrian bridge and go for a dip in the lake. Lots of places to eat nearby.
