The canadian side of the soo locks is with small ships but you stand above all procedure in the locks and very close to it. Interesting.

Not necessarily. Channel traffic varies widely from nothing for hours to one every 30-40 minutes. Download "FindShip" for graphical update that shows time, location, and direction of ships in area.
