My wife is 30 weeks pregnant and was able to do this climb with just a few rests along the way. Great views of Saugatuck and the river from the top, but not really the lake. I guess the west side of Mount Baldhead is like a big dune, because there's sand all the way from the top of the... More

After more than 300 steps you will not be disappointed. The view of Saugatuck from the Mt. Baldhead is beautiful. The access to the dunes from the top is also great.

Great exercise and beautiful views. We visited twice and took different trails down to Oval Beach. The Beach is spectacular even in the winter.

We went on the trip spontaneously and it was worth it. The stairs are killer if you're not in shape, but a good workout!

300+ stairs, straight up, with a couple of side rest platforms along the way. Incredible views, and the lookout views down the trail on the backside going to Oval each are beautiful. A strenuous stair climb, for sure, so prepare for the burn and the increased heart rate. Overall, a great hike to enjoy the surroundings, and you can't beat... More

I admit that around stair 200, I was starting to wonder whether climbing to the stairs to the top of Mt. Baldhead was a good idea. Turns out, it was The 302 steps to the top take you to a lovely view of the Kalamazoo River. (You can't see a ton of Lake Michigan from up here) It was October... More

My husband, daughter, and I like to take epic hikes in National and State Parks. This was a great hike... first up 300+ stairs to a beautiful view of Saugatuck/Douglas. Then down the forest/sandy path to Oval Beach. It was October, so we didn't go in the water, but it was absolutely beautiful! Then, back up the forest/sand path and... More

We enjoyed it and did not find it difficult at all - my 8 year old climbed up and down with no problem. It is a quick trip though we combined it with a hike on the trail directly behind the viewing area and down to the beach.

Great cardio workout for early morning climb to the top of 200+ steps. View is a bit obsure of the lake but turn around and see a panoramic view of the Kalamazoo river and Saugatuck
