Girls weekend in St Joseph. We stumbled across the Krasl Art Center's weekend (I think monthly?) arts and crafts weekend, where you get a mystery box of craft items and build a sculpture. Great way to spend 1-2 hours with your friends. Free snacks, even! And as part of The Art of Egg Prize, we got to make tiny paintings too. Absolutely perfect afternoon making great memories.

Sculptures greet you as you walk to the entrance. Look up as you enter the building to see a stunning yellow and orange glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly. Two large galleries host a rotating selection of art shows. Upstairs you will find classrooms and studios where various artists work and classes in several media are taught. School groups are welcome at the Krasl. A gift shop offers beautiful items for sale.

I would love to tell you about the July Krasl Art Fair On The Bluff but we never got to see it. We drove around St. Joseph for about 30 minutes and couldn't find a place to park. The only available parking was is church parking lot about a 10 minute walk from the art fair and they were charging $10. No Parking signs were everywhere including spaces on the street that are normally parking spaces. Unless they address the parking issue or you plan to arrive at in the morning, I would pass on this art fair.

The art center is small in size but large in interest. The yellow Chihuly hanging above the entry-way is an amazing piece of art to unexpectedly find in the small center! The displays change regularly, but they are always tasteful displays talented artists.

This art center is a gem, especially in a community the size of St. Joseoh. The grounds feature great public spaces to sit and relax, as well as sculptures. The entryway features a giant glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly. Inside 2 gallery spaces feature rotating exhibits, and these are free to the public. The gift shop is stocked with unique art related items. Classes are offered for adults and children. If you are in town this is a must do!

Annually (second weekend in July) they host an art fair with juried artists. It is always a great show with many beautiful things. There is also a smooth jazz concert at silver beach on Saturday night that is very nice. Lots of good talent there.
