MAKE A MEMORY ALL YEAR ROUND! The horses, the tigers, the hippocampus, the panda, the clown fish - in all, 48 unique carousel figures and two chariots - are whirling with excitement to see you. Come pick your favorite and ride beneath 1000 twinkling lights as the band organ's music happily soars and dips with the gears. Each figure is beautifully hand-carved and hand-painted by the artisans at The Carousel Works. Around the top of the carousel you can learn about our local history - told as no one else in the world has told it on a carousel - using historic photographs. As you gaze at those 18 rounding boards, you'll become part of our story, too. You'll find all the magic and wonder of the Silver Beach Carousel below the bluff in St. Joseph, just yards from Lake Michigan's Silver Beach, named one of the top 10 family beaches by Parents magazine. Open all four seasons, you can ride a different carousel figure or chariot every week and fill the year with a new memory each time. Our sea serpent chariot is wheelchair accessible so everyone can ride! Tokens are available for cash or credit card at the admissions desk or for cash from our token machine. Steps away from the carousel is Michigan's tallest kaleidoscope and Curious Kids' Discovery Zone by Curious Kids Museum, an entertaining place for toddlers to teens to explore water exhibits, a climbing wall and traveling exhibits. Next door to us is the beautiful Silver Beach Shadowland Ballroom, where special celebrations and wedding dreams come true. Across the road is the Whirlpool Compass Fountain where you can splash in the mist on warm days. And throughout the year, plan to join us for lots of fun events. Our Silver Beach Center packages let you create hours of fun at special prices. The Activities Room is an easy place to celebrate your child's next birthday or a special event. Just let us know what day you'd like to book by clicking here. The carousel is beautiful with a lot of history. Because I am from the area I had the background knowledge of the carousel and some of the horses. If you like carousels you will enjoy this one. It is very authentic. It's close to a splash park and the lake, so if the weather is nice you can make a... More

My kids had a great time. It was neat to see all the memorabilia from the amusement park that used to be located close by. It’s too bad it was closed down. The area would be so much better if they had an amusement park. The carousel and beach are really nice. But it seems like the area really needs... More

Anyone who has ever enjoyed riding the carousel, can enjoy this one. Designed for riders with bench seating, jumpers for the adventurous. The horses and figures pay tribute to carousels of the past with updated animal figures to entice the kids. Relatively low cost. Big beautiful and musical. Original carousel music. There are also snacks, a museum and souvenirs for... More

The carousel is a fun place to take kids, and is fun to visit when you want to let your own inner kid out. It's only $2 a ride. Also, many of my friends have used the carousel as a fun place for some great wedding photos!

This is an old time carousel. All ages can ride. $2 per ride. The kids (and adults) love it! Located right on the beach!

This isn't that far of a drive from our home but we never seem to make the time to go here. On a return trip from upstate Michigan we needed to stop anyways as the kids were tired of being in the car, we decided to stop here finally. The kids enjoyed it, but after a few rides on the... More

We took our boys this weekend after the annual reindog parade and were once again impressed with the Christmas decorations. Regardless of when we are in Saint Joseph, this is a frequent stop. The volunteers are always friendly and the frequent change of decorations keep us coming back. Two dollars is well worth the price of creating memories with a... More

What a fun addition to this community! The staff clearly cares for the attraction and its history. The ride alone is fun but hearing the history of the place and meaning behind the figurines really made this a special stop. I felt like just $2 was a bargain for how much I enjoyed this! Thank you to everyone who worked... More

Wife and I stopped here while in town for the weekend. Prices were very reasonable and the carousel can be fun for adults as well as children. The gift shop was nice as well. All the employees were extremely friendly.
