I received the same parking fine as many others have noted. It is clearly an attempt by the city to earn revenue as there is no signage in the parking lot that you have to pay to park there. I tried appealing the $40 ticket and it was denied.

I refuse to believe that it was sand erosion that caused 95% of the sand to disappear. This beach used to be our “go to” beach from Illinois. We didn’t mind paying for the parking ticket. It use to be a place we’re you can see the perfect “Golden Hour”. But now it’s all gone.

We have visited this beach frequently for years. I'm grossly disappointed that a large seawall has been placed down the entire park leaving the lake inaccessible. Sadly we will be finding another beach section to frequent as swimming is the main reason we come to the lake.

I frequently take my family here as it is a short walk from where we reside. The benefits are that it is not nearly as busy as Silver Beach, and the restroom facilities, showers, and playground equipment are newer. The downside is that I have encountered poorer swimming areas such as a sticky beach bottom and rocky shoreline, which you do not encounter at Silver Beach which is well kept and pure sand. The old iron docks that are sticking out of the beach into the water can be either a benefit to swimmers, or a distraction to those who are looking for a great view. I would say that the City has spent a lot of money improving this park and it is well kept up courtesy of the Lions.

Thank you to those of you that left reviews about the new playground equipment. There was only one pic, but we decided to go check it out anyway. It was perfect! I was actually very surprised at how much there was to do there. We got there around 10 and it wasn't crowded at all. My 7 and 4 year olds loved it. There are multiple play structures which make it great for kids of all ages. We were there around 10 and they had just finished cleaning the bathrooms. My husband used the men's restroom before it was cleaned and said it was a mess. That's to be expected for a beach bathroom though. They are clearly cleaning it daily to keep up with it though. The women's restroom was clean since they had just finished. There are lots of picnic tables and covered structures for shade. The parking lot was $7. A nice lady at the park told my husband that if you park across the little street that it's free. He had already paid, but nice tip for future trips. We were able to use the parking by the splash pad without paying again, because it's the same pay system. (At least I think that's how it works lol).

With huge high waters and erosion this spring, a great deal of the beach has been lost. This is a great park to visit if you don't want to get your feet wet! The banks to get down to the water are too steep for most to climb.

Lions beach was less crowded and has nice playground equipment. However - you have to jump down over metal barriers to get to the water. This really wasn't conducive to going to the beach with kids - so we ended up leaving and going to Tiscornia beach. The playground equipment looked like a lot of fun and we will probably go back to try it out.

This is a smaller beach just to the south of the Silver Beach. There is a fee to park your car, but the beach is a short walk from the parking lot. The nearby play ground is awesome.

Just turn left instead of right when you go over the bridge on Park St on your way to Silver Beach and you are at Lions Park Beach. Or you can walk there from Silver Beach, it's only 1-2 blocks away. Quieter, with a nice paved shaded walking path, in case you want to walk it or your kids want to ride their bikes. The big difference is that Lions Park has outdoor BBQ's to use. Has a Children's playground with swings. There are some trees, so... some shade. Beach is just as clean as Silver Beach.

Took my grandwonders to see their first beach sunset!!! There is lovely play equipment to keep them busy until the real attraction... Lake Michigan Sunset!!! Less crowded than Silver Beach and easy to get to the playground from your car!!! Just breathtaking!!!
