This area has a lot to offer. As a beach, you have typical water/beach activity options. As a hiking location, there are the dunes. And for general nautical interest, there is the light house at the end of a pier you can walk on. Good photograph opportunities with light house and dunes. Rest rooms are available and apparently lighthouse tours are an option during the warmer months (we were there in late Oct).
We have been to both the Silver Lake side and the Tiscornia Park side and Tiscornia seems a lot less crowded.

The pay to park signs are intentionally misleading. They call it “passport parking” but if you have a Michigan Recreation Passport, it does not apply here. And you will get a FORTY DOLLAR ticket. Obviously they are trying to fleece people with this misleading language printed all over the signs at this park. I would not recommend.

The beach at Tiscornia Park is incredible. We’ve been to many beaches all over the world, but nothing beats the pure sand and fresh unsalted water of Lake Michigan. The water in July this year was pretty cold but so refreshing on a hot day. I would not give this five stars just because it was pretty crowded, but it was Fourth of July weekend so what can you expect. After a while, I just focused on the beach and the water and ignored the crowd. If you’re looking for clean water and public bathroom for a beach day, you found it!

A quieter alternative to the park on the other side of the pier, we were quite happy with our find. A very nice beach, a very nice stroll to the end o the pier, and a great spot to watch the sunset. As others have mentioned make sure to pay the fee or parking which is quite reasonable.

This beach is smaller that Silver Beach but was a lot less crowded and therefore quieter. You still pay to park but it was half the cost and you could opt to pay by the hour. The only draw back is you have to climb stairs and a fairly steep sand dune.

Great walking the beachfront area. You can visit the lighthouse up close as well. I enjoyed the beachcombing as well. It was a bit less crowded than the Silver Beach area, at least when we visited. It is a very nice place to watch the sunset, walk, swim, and play in the sand.

We really enjoyed this beach. It has dunes, the lighthouse, and a picnic pavilion. My wife and I enjoyed it better than Silver Beach, the kids enjoyed Silver Beach more (the sell ice cream at Silver Beach, not here.) Something that we liked is the dune. It hides the parking lot and gives a more secluded feel. It's also less busy than Silver Beach but the parking is very limited. It can get pretty aggressive looking for one. But we eventually found a spot each time we were there.
A couple differences from Silver Beach: there are no lifeguards here; there are no buoys here to designate the swimming area, which made the kids uneasy (they're 7); no food service; no playground; boats and wave runners can dock right off the beach.
I recommend you try it at least once.

Watching sunset here was the highlight of my trip to Benton Harbor/St. Joseph! I went here to do some sunset photography and man did I get some nice shots! There is a lighthouse right out from the beach that makes for a perfect picture. The restrooms were decent and there was a good amount of parking spaces.

Secret little gem tucked away in St Joe. Easy access to the lighthouses. VERY minimal parking so rarely overcrowded. Showers and Bathrooms on site. Small picnic area. There is a parking fee.

Tiscornia Park contains the North Pier and is fished spring through fall for the summer and fall run steelhead, white fish in the fall, and other fish. It is a bait fisherman/woman's choice for spending time on Lake Michigan. If you are a catch realease angler, you will not be able to fish for salmon or steelhead from this peir.
