Since it was raining we decided to check this place out. We didn't get out anywhere, but it was a pleasant long drive. Saw herons I'd never seen. It was a nice side trip.

There is a road around the entire refuge, which allows you see almost all the sights right from your car. There are also some pulloff places with viewing stands to stop and spend more time on several of the areas.

If you like hiking, this is a great place to go to enjoy peace and quiet and nature and just get away from stress. This spot is left the way nature intended it to be, a true refuge for wildlife.

Absolutely beautiful terrain. Miles and miles of woods, wetlands, fields and rivers....oh and tons of animals - I even saw bear prints and scat.

No, dogs are not allowed in the park on any of the trails. There is a nice drive that you can do through the park which I did with my dog in the car and was still able to get some great views of the park and wildlife
