The foundations of the buildings on display are really impressive and a visit to the town walls are truly outstanding. Our tour by one of the villagers (John) was the highlight of the visit. There are adequate information panels to explain the details of the...More

I’d never heard of this place before and we stopped off on our way to Caerleon - I guess the ground level masonry that indicates where a villa, a row of shops and a temple might be a little disappointing - but the walk around...More

Situated in a village next to the A48, Caerwent is a gem if you like Roman history in Britain. The car park has signposted access to two sets of remains within easy walking distance - some home and shop layouts and the "Courtyard House". It...More

Very well kept parking area. Followed the trail around the Roman town. Enjoyed the audio commentary and notices explaining the history of the Roman town.

There was much more than i expected here, its worth following the signs to see all the bits. I paricularly liked the temple which we could easily have missed, and just walking along the whole longer wall. Much of it is not particularly wheelchair firendly.
