We stopped at a couple of the "scenic outlooks" along the way, these were very nice although the steps are getting old. Iargo Springs and Lumberjack Monument are well worth stopping in.

A must see if you have some extra time. We only had time to spend a few minutes as a storm rolled through when we arrived. We'll be back for more beauty when Mother Nature cooperates

I have only done the easternmost stretch of this, from Oscoda to Lumberjack's monument. I recommend stopping at the Eagle Access Hiking trails near the eastern edge (just past Grass Lake Road if headed west). There are 3 looping trails, for a total of 8...More

One of those relaxing drives that actually makes driving a pleasure. Roll down the windows and cruise! The two must-sees along the way are Iargo Springs and Lumberman's Monument (see my other reviews), but the Canoer's Memorial is nice, too...even if the view isn't quite...More

My expectation was that we would get more river views along the road, but there are only a handful of good scenic overlooks. If you make a trip out of it and stay at one of the campsites, you probably get to enjoy much more...More

There are 2 that I am thinking of, one is closer to Oscoda, the other is out beyond the Dam Store. Both have overviews of the AuSable River and are breath taking at any time of the year, but especially the Fall.

This road is truly a gem any time of year. There are many places to pull over and view the river or take photos. A must see in the area.
