Cheboygan to Onaway via Black Lake rural roads was easy and enjoyable. We traveled to Onaway State Park from hotel on Lake Huron near our route to highway travel South. If you're a camper, then there are many places around Park + activity for Lakers...More

Tried camping here but the camp sites are very small and uneven. Many are on steep inclines and have trees in the middle of the site. There was no staff to be found anywhere. The bathrooms are quite old and has not been cleaned in...More

This State Park is a little out of the way but worth the drive if you enjoy a quieter setting. Most of the campsites are more for the smaller type trailers especially along the lake where we were. It seems that everyone had canoes or...More

If you're looking for a quiet little campground in a state park that's one of the least-visited in Michigan, this is it. It's located on picturesque Black Lake, and the only reason I don't give it five stars is because I'm a beachgoer and it...More

We were at site 81 camping for our first time with a pop up. It was pretty rocky and unlevel. Very busy and not much privacy. Popular for big rigs that can be a bit loud and take away from the view. We would return...More

Quiet, clean bathrooms and showers. Some sites nicer than others, some right on the water. Good boat launch. Near Ocqueoc falls and not far from cheybogan. Camphost had lots of kids activities.

We had a bit of a problem getting a site (young, inexperienced employee), but the senior ranger staff were very apologetic and finally got us the "right" site. We loved the park. It was a combination of tent campers as well as RV's. All age...More

We stayed at site 6 and it was exactly what we expected! Rocky on the shore but spectacular sunrise and sunset! We even caught crawfish from the shore. You'll want to wear some water shoes anywhere at this park on the shore. Not stones I'd...More

The cabin is next to the water. Enjoyed making a fire, hiking, outdoor eating, peaceful. No bathroom close by. The lake is crystal clear. Would have loved to kayak on the lake.

Onaway is a very family friendly park with a playground, hiking trails and beach. The beach isn't as large as some of the other parks in the area but is popular with campers and locals. It is popular with fishermen who like to start early...More

Should be fine with a pop-up. Just bring something to level with, lots of uneven and rocky sites. We were on the lower part of the campground by the lake but the upper part looked very nice too. Nice campground - enjoy!!
